PURPOSE

The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for leading teams and subordinate staff to deliver project(s) that span across one or more business units. This position will manage resources, schedules, and financials related to all IT project work. This position will work directly with IT Director on managing resources, schedules, and financials related to ongoing operations of the IT department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
  • Establish project plans for IT department and other cross departments based on business priorities and business requirements.
  • Manage and assign staff and supportive staff complex projects that span across multiple departments.
  • Make recommendations to IT director and other senior leadership on improving project efficiencies and workflows.
  • Work with IT JR Project Manager and additional supportive staff to ensure project plans and project scope are fully documented and communicated using industry standard best practices.
  • Ensure projects managed directly, managed by IT JR Project Manager, and other supportive staff have tasks clearly assigned, notes clearly identified, and project milestones clearly communicated.
  • Work with vendors and third-party contractors to ensure the project plan is fully document and communicated as well as reflected in the statement of work as required for such engagements.
  • Manage project scope and changes they evolve through entire project life cycle to ensure all parties are on schedule and on track towards the stated goals and objectives.
  • Set priorities for I.T. personnel ensuring mission critical projects are given higher priority for limited resources.
  • Makes recommendations to the I.T. department and management based on information gathered through discussions with I.T. staff, vendors and third party contractors.
  • Work with end-users to ensure their respective roles and responsibilities are communicated and commitments are attained in their roles with a system change or a new project implementation.
  • Establish project budgets for I.T. department based on industry standard best practices.
  • Provide on-site leadership for project teams within IT, subordinate staff within IT and other operational project teams, by building and motivating team members to meet project goals that adhere to the business requirements, project milestones, and other industry standard best practices.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients and other departments.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problemโ€‘solving capabilities.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
  • A Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Computer Science or Business-related profession with 5-7 years of experience in successful project management.
