Construction Estimator Jr

Location: Doral

About the Role

CPM Builders is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Doral, Florida. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the estimating and preconstruction process, working closely with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, clients, and internal project teams to develop accurate and competitive project estimates. This role requires strong analytical skills, expertise in commercial construction estimating, and experience with Division 9 Finishes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed conceptual budgets and cost estimates from pre-construction, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for all trades, with strong emphasis on Division 9 Finishes.
  • Manage the complete bidding process for construction management and general contracting projects, including preparation of detailed bid packages.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor proposals and vendor quotations for completeness, scope coverage, and pricing accuracy.
  • Identify scope gaps, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives while maintaining project quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to support competitive pricing and successful project execution.
  • Collaborate with project managers and field teams to coordinate procurement schedules, project deliverables, and estimating requirements.
  • Prepare detailed scopes of work by trade division and maintain accurate estimating documentation.
  • Research market conditions, labor trends, material pricing, and associated project costs.
  • Attend meetings with clients, owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors as needed.
  • Conduct site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs to verify project conditions and support accurate estimating.
  • Utilize estimating and takeoff software to prepare accurate and organized estimates.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating within the commercial construction industry.
  • Experience with Division 9 Finishes required.
  • Bachelors degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and estimating/takeoff software including Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Timberline, ProEst, or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate estimates, determine project scope, and develop hard bid packages including labor, materials, overhead, risk, and profit analysis.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and CSI divisions.
  • Ability to analyze subcontractor bids and perform value engineering evaluations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
