Job description

This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Oak Ridge, TN. 

Job Summary: The IT Project Manager is responsible for supporting the delivery of IT and business initiatives from initiation through completion. This role partners with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to coordinate project activities, track progress, and ensure successful execution of project deliverables. The role emphasizes hands-on project coordination, communication, and delivery tracking across technical environments.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Supports the definition of project scope, objectives, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders. Assists in documenting business and technical requirements. Develops and maintains project plans, timelines, and work breakdown structures. Identifies risks, issues, and dependencies and tracks mitigation actions. Coordinates across internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure alignment.
  • Tracks project progress, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-time completion. Manage action items, risks, and issue logs and drives follow-up to resolution. Coordinates system integration efforts, testing activities, and implementation tasks. Supports User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect tracking, and cutover planning. Ensure deliverables meet defined quality standards.
  • Provides clear, concise project status updates to stakeholders and leadership. Facilitates project meetings, documents decisions, and tracks action items. Supports preparation of executive-level summaries and reporting materials. Maintains strong working relationships across business and IT teams.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders to align resource needs and availability. Maintains project artifacts in tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, or MS Project. Ensure documentation is current, accurate, and accessible.
  • Follows project management standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks. Supports lessons learned activities and process improvements.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of project coordination or project management experience is required.
  • Experience working on IT or system related projects with a focus on core banking platforms or financial systems is preferred. 

Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or in a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, relevant work experience, or military experience is required. 
  • CAPM, PMP, or an equivalent certification is preferred. 

Other skills required

  • Strong organizational and execution focused project management skills.
  • Must have high proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Must have high proficiency with industry-standard project management software such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Must possess strong data analysis skills.
  • Must have ability to prioritize demands from multiple projects.
  • Must have ability to conduct training, communicate at panel discussions, and make professional presentations, including but not limited to Board and C-Level presentations.
