Position Summary

The Purchasing Coordinator works under the direction of the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for purchasing a variety of materials—primarily MRO, non‑stock, and interdepartmental items—in an efficient and economical manner while following established policies and procedures. This role plays a vital part in supporting plant and office operations and ensuring the right materials are available at the right time and cost.


Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase materials in support of plant and office operations using ERP/MRP systems (Ross/Aptean)
  • Coordinate and communicate shipments, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • Create, implement, and reconcile RFQs to support cost‑savings initiatives
  • Meet annual cost‑savings targets established by the Purchasing Manager and Executive Team
  • Perform strategic sourcing to improve supplier competition, reduce risk, and lower overall spend
  • Create accurate purchase orders and ensure timely receipt of materials
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure purchasing needs are met
  • Verify pricing, recommend alternate sources, and negotiate discounts
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including price histories and supplier performance
  • Support just‑in‑time inventory practices by working closely with production scheduling
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support Jost operations

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, purchasing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience using ERP/MRP systems (food or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent math and analytical skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Position is on‑site, 40 hours per week
