Position Summary

Jolly Pets is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is ideal for someone with a bachelor's degree in accounting and 1 to 3 years of accounting experience who is looking to broaden their knowledge across all aspects of accounting and finance.

The Staff Accountant will assist with the monthly close process, account reconciliations, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and general ledger activities while partnering with multiple departments across the organization. This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth, increased responsibility, and exposure to all areas of accounting within a growing manufacturing company.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys learning, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited to help shape and improve processes as the business continues to grow and evolve.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close activities
  • Analyze income statement and balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
  • Assist with inventory accounting, inventory reconciliations, and physical inventory counts
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of sales tax, use tax, personal property tax, and other state and local tax filings
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports for management
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency
  • Cross train in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to provide backup support as needed
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups
  • Experience with ERP systems. Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience is a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Manufacturing, inventory, or consumer products experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new technologies, automation, and AI driven tools to improve efficiency and support continuous process improvement
