Minuteman Spring Company is a precision spring and wire form manufacturer based in Millbury, Massachusetts, in continuous operation since 1946. We make custom compression, extension, torsion, barrel, and conical springs, along with custom wire forms like clips, brackets, and retaining rings, for customers across aerospace and defense, medical and life sciences, automotive, industrial equipment, electronics, and energy. As a jobber spring shop, we manufacture exclusively to order, using CNC coiling and wire-forming equipment on wire diameters from .008" to .312" in materials from carbon and stainless steel to specialty alloys. The Role

We need an experienced coiler setup technician to program and set up our CNC spring coiling equipment, including our Torin coilers. You'll read spring prints, translate specs into machine setups, validate first-piece samples, and keep production running to spec. This is currently the only role of its kind on our floor, so you'll have real ownership and room to shape how the job is done.

Responsibilities

• Set up and program CNC spring coiling machines (Torin) for new and repeat jobs
• Read and interpret spring prints/blueprints to determine wire diameter, OD, pitch, free length, coil count, and end types
• Select and install tooling (pitch tools, feed fingers, wire guides) for each job
• Run trial coils, inspect first pieces against print using micrometers, gauges, and load/spring-rate testers, and adjust settings for dimensional accuracy
• Monitor running production for quality and make machine adjustments as needed
• Maintain and sharpen tooling as needed
• Document setup parameters per job so repeat runs can be recalled quickly

Requirements

• 1+ years of hands-on experience setting up CNC or cam-driven spring coiling machines (Torin experience strongly preferred, other brands considered)
• Ability to read spring/mechanical prints and blueprints
• Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, gauges, spring rate/load testers)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to tolerance and spec
• Reliable and safety-conscious around wire-forming equipment

Nice to Have

• Experience training or mentoring other operators/setup staff
• Familiarity with other spring-forming or 4-slide equipment
• Comfort working across a wide wire diameter range (roughly .008"–.312")
