Residential Services 

Family Tree’s GOALS and House of Hope are family shelters that serve households that are currently homeless or at risk of homelessness.  Residential shelters are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for families using a multigenerational, trauma informed and client centered approach. GOALS and House of Hope provides case management services and basic needs to the households enrolled in the programs. Residential programs operate 24/7 and offer up to 90 days of shelter at House of Hope and up to 9 months  

Job Summary  

The Program Director will provide the day-to-day administration and oversight of the GOALS and House of Hope residential programs for families with children who are experiencing homelessness within Family Tree’s Residential Services. This includes program management, staff supervision of Residential Services employees as well as interns/volunteers, training and direct service delivery. The Residential Director will provide astute oversight and proven understanding of all grants, funding, expenses and funding requirements associated with GOALS.  

The Program Director should have demonstrated leadership skills and a strong knowledge of homelessness and domestic violence.  The Program Director will have proven experience working in/with and understanding the following terms and programs and entities; COC (continuum of care), ESG (Emergency Solutions Grant, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), Trauma Informed Practices, Domestic Violence Advocacy, HMIS (Homeless Management Information System), Congregate Shelter, 2Gen Model Approaches, Housing First Model, Emergency Shelter, Transitional Shelter, Landlord/Tenant rights, and voucher programs. Along with the knowledge of programs and contracts, the candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing data and grant reporting responsibilities.  

This candidate should be equipped to manage, build and facilitate community relationships with the City of Aurora, Arapahoe County, Douglas County, Tri Cities (Englewood, Littleton and Sheirdan).  

The Program Director will be supported by Family Tree’s Vice President of Homelessness Service as well as Family Tree’s Chief Operating Officer. The Program Director will lead the team in providing a strength based, client centered, trauma informed residential environment where every resident feels safe, heard, and supported.  

This candidate will embrace Family Tree’s culture of continuous improvement practice. The Director of Residential Services is responsible for creating an inclusive work and shelter environment for staff, interns, volunteers’ clients and community partners. The Program Director will maintain and uphold Fair Housing and Equal Housing Opportunity principles. The Program Director will have the ability to communicate and interact in meaningful and impactful ways with people from all backgrounds and those who have different viewpoints.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Deliver day-to-day program management and administration of program service delivery. This includes:  

  • Learning and understanding program objectives  

  • Developing, and implementing policies, procedures and standards as needed. This includes best practices, database procedures and safety standards.  

  • Ensure team members adhere to contractual requirements and scope of services for each grant agreement pertaining to GOALS and House of Hope 

  • Adhere to program budgets. Promptly enter receipts and invoices into internal financial reporting systems. 

  • Accurately and promptly report program data for grant/contract reports, billing and internal reports.  

  • Complete schedules for regularly scheduled staff and relief.  

  • Provide guidance and support to team members and or clients, as needed.  

  • Ensure proper client and file documentation is maintained, assist with case reviews and audits. 

  • Provide general leadership to GOALS and House of Hope team members, full organization and community partners.  

  • Support Family Tree mission and model Family Tree values of commitment, integrity, accountability, DEI/inclusiveness, collaboration and advocacy.  

  • Facilitate regularly scheduled program team meetings and participate in Expanded Leadership Team meetings.  

  • Foster teamwork and integrated services and opportunities within the program and organization.  

  • Adhere to all Family Tree established policies and procedures, including those regarding timely reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect and confidentiality of client information.  

  • Ensure a safe working environment, following Family Tree protocols and implementation of safety procedures at GOALS and House of Hope 

  • Participate in community meetings such as; City Council meetings, Local Chambers of Commerce, community Town Hall meetings, and more as needed.  

  • Participate in regular supervision and regularly communicate with Vice President of Homelessness services to ensure high quality service delivery, effective problem solving, integration and a culture of learning. 

  • Partner with Chief Operating Officer, Vice President of Homelessness Services and Vice President of Human Resources regarding hiring new team members and retention of current team. This includes: 

  • Recruitment, selection and training of new hires.  

  • Provide regular supervision/check-ins, coaching, and performance evaluation of case managers, according to Family Tree values, policies, and procedures.   

  • Build new community relationships and partnerships that will lead to funding opportunities, and client resources 

  • Work and collaborate closely with Family Tree’s Gifts and Community Support Team to establish a robust volunteer and intern program to ensure rich community partnerships and experiences. 

  • Collaborate with Family Tree’s Gifts and Community Support Team to identify possible funding streams for GOALS and House of Hope.  

  • Partner with Family Tree’s Gifts and Community Support Team to build a robust internship program

Strengths-Based Approaches – Ability to practice trauma-informed care, which includes being culturally appropriate, strengths-based, and providing individualized support to families.  

Supporting Family Well-Being- Demonstrate abilities to apply a Multi-generational Approach and the protective factors in daily work with families.  

Teamwork and Collaboration – Committed to and skilled at building and maintaining relationships; able to work effectively with various individuals, organizations, and team members. Prioritizing effective working relationships in a hybrid environment.  

Fostering Teamwork and Collaboration- Work with Expanded Leadership Team and team members; supports the CEO, Executive Team and other Residential Program Directors to assist with the development and implementation of program delivery. Listens to the ideas and thoughts of others and is able to express disagreement constructively.  

Leadership-Ability to keep self and others motivated, ability to influence others. 

Relationship Management- Possess the skills to build healthy and effective working relationships with Family Tree team members. Skills gained either from lived experience and/or professional experience working with vulnerable populations and marginalized communities.  

Organizational Competency- Able to prioritize and manage workload, manage their time with a strong attention to detail. Preferred Skills/Competencies  

Flexibility and Adaptability- Comfortable navigating the unknown and able to make decisions with limited information. Can easily transition from one task to the next and work in a fast-paced environment that changes frequently.  

Communication-Ability to explain complex and diverse ideas to a variety of audiences in both written and oral formats. 

Independent Worker- Ability to carry out self-directed tasks with limited supervision.  

Digital Literacy- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite Programs as well as Salesforce Databases.  

Preferred Skills/Competencies  

Proficiency in reading, speaking and writing in both Spanish and English.  

Job Details Location: Shared location between Family Tree Wheat Ridge building, GOALS campus and House of Hope 

Program: Residential Services 

Status: Full-time Salary  

Pay Rate: $68,847-$78,000 .The base salary range represents the low and high end of Family Tree’s hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to range of experience, years of experience. The range listed is just one component of Family Tree’s total compensation package for employees.

Schedule: Full Time, 40 Hours per week. Evenings, weekends and overnights as necessary. This is a 24/7 residential program. On-Call coverage rotation required.  

Working Conditions: In person work required. The Program Director must have access to reliable transportation on a daily basis for various off-site meetings.
