Job description

Scheduling Specialist - Couch Restaurants
Job no: 493587

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Standard/Fixed Schedule; As essential personnel, may be required to work during campus closures or emergencies, to include inclement weather days; Will be required to work scheduled overtime at peak times of the year

Position Introduction:
Couch Restaurants is the centralized dining hall for residents of on-campus residence halls, and faculty/staff/guests. Couch Restaurants is a dynamic and exciting place to work on campus. As the Scheduling Specialist, this full-time benefits-eligible position will work to schedule employees.
The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating the work schedules of employees, in compliance with a designated staffing plan. They are responsible for communicating directly with student employees to confirm work schedules that fit the needs of Couch Restaurants, while also supporting the needs of students. Position works closely with Couch Restaurants supervisors and managers to maintain student employee coverage throughout the restaurant and communicating schedule changes. Position communicates time and attendance issues to supervisors, managers, and students, and also works to secure replacements for shifts if/when a student isn't available.
Typical duties will also include administrative office work, answering emails and phone calls, as well as addressing walk-in student scheduling questions and concerns, along with other duties as assigned. Will also assist in other duties to support a successful restaurant to include cleaning, customer service, serving and other clerical duties as necessary.
  • As essential personnel, may be required to work during campus closures or emergencies, to include inclement weather days.
  • Will be required to work scheduled overtime at peak times of the year.
  • Will be required to acquire Cleveland County Food Handlers Card within 30-days of hire.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 12 months office, clerical or administrative support experience.

Department Preferences:
  • Previous professional experience in a high-volume restaurant in any capacity, student affairs professional experience.
