The Opportunity


As the primary role responsible for completing accounting and reporting transactions and preparing financial statements for the InnServices Utilities Inc., this role is required to maintain ongoing functional understanding of routine and complex IFRS Accounting standards, processes and reporting obligations to ensure the timely, and accurate reporting of financial information to key business stakeholders.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements for the InnServices Utilities Inc. in accordance with current IFRS Accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close procedures, including posting recurring journals, monthly account reconciliations, development charges, balance sheet reporting, etc. for routine and complex accounts in accordance with IFRS reporting standards.
  • Prepare analysis for month end financial review, comparing P&L actual results against budget and prior year, water and wastewater revenue analysis or other analysis, to support business operations, or other stakeholders.
  • Support month-end and year-end activities, including assisting in the preparation of the year end audits and budgets.
  • Preparation of reports/analysis for Operations and Engineering as required.
  • Analyze and develop financing plans for large scale capital projects, including the consideration of current reserve fund and development charge balances, annual contributions, debt calculations, and forecasting future revenue and development charge receipts.
  • Assist in preparation of company's budget and forecasts, long term and strategic planning to support business operations.
  • Record and maintain related party transactions

Qualifications & Core Capabilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Completion of Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) is not required but considered an asset.
  • 3+ years of progressive financial experience, focused on financial analysis and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Word are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail along with great analytical and financial analysis capabilities.
