Salary Range: $60,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Caledonia that are seeking Tool Makers. Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, alter, and repair a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Set up and operate various machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
• Perform precision measurements using instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with tooling performance and accuracy.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool longevity and function.
• Maintain and calibrate shop equipment to ensure accuracy and safe operation.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a Tool & Die Maker Apprenticeship or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings
• Demonstrated expertise in operating manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs)
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles and application
• Proficient in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments
• Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations related to tooling and machining

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.
• Familiarity with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) and/or Wire EDM.
• Certification in a specialized machining skill (e.g., CNC programming, precision grinding).
• Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks.
• Experience with 3D printing for prototyping or tooling inserts.
