What is jewelry packaging?

Jewelry packaging refers to the materials and containers used to protect, display, and present jewelry items. This includes boxes, pouches, bags, and other packaging designed to keep jewelry safe during shipping and storage, as well as to enhance its visual appeal for customers. Good jewelry packaging not only protects the pieces from damage and tarnish, but also adds a sense of luxury and branding to the product. Many businesses use custom packaging to reflect their brand identity and improve the overall customer experience.

What are some common challenges faced in a jewelry packaging role, and how can they be managed effectively?

One common challenge in jewelry packaging is ensuring each item is securely and attractively packed to prevent damage during transit while maintaining a high level of presentation. This often requires attention to detail and manual dexterity, as well as familiarity with different packaging materials and techniques. Time management is also important, especially when handling large orders or meeting tight deadlines. Collaborating closely with quality control and shipping teams helps ensure standards are met and any issues are addressed promptly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in jewelry packaging, and why are they important?

To excel in Jewelry Packaging, attention to detail, manual dexterity, and experience handling delicate items are essential, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with packaging tools, labeling systems, and quality control procedures is typically required. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently in a team setting are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure products are packaged securely and attractively, maintaining brand standards and minimizing damage during shipping.

Description
Department: Production
Reports To: Production Flow Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Pay scale: Level I Scale - $17.13-18.20/hour, starting pay $17.13 per hour
GLDN is a direct-to-consumer jewelry brand that blends craft and technology to bring delight and connection through meaningful, personalized pieces. We design, manufacture, and ship from our headquarters in La Conner, Washington. We are growing - and our production team needs to grow with us for our upcoming busy holiday season.
Are you someone who loves working with your hands with repetitive, meditative processes? Are you a self starter who is constantly looking for ways to do things better? Do you enjoy working around doggos? If this applies to you, please keep reading...
We make jewelry and value learning, connection, having fun and being impactful. We need a few new team members who love detailed, repetitive work and bringing joy to others as much as we do to help us through our busy Christmas rush season! Even if you have no experience, this is a great opportunity to learn a new skill. We love to train people who are eager to learn and have great attention to detail!
There is potential for the role to become long-term based on performance and our staffing needs when our rush season ends after Christmas.
POTENTIAL TASKS:
-Packaging our delicate, personalized jewelry with care (including a little handwritten note with each order)
-Accurately and efficiently printing shipping labels using a computer and label printer
-Using pliers to assemble dainty chain, tiny jump rings and small gauge wire to create jewelry pieces
-Hand stamping personal messages onto our pieces with precision
-Helping with organizational and other projects, as needed
Cross-training is a big part of our culture, so there's a lot of opportunity for eventually learning other skills, too!
Requirements
THERE ARE A FEW REQUIREMENTS:
1. Excellent eyesight & an eye for visual details (our pieces are VERY tiny)
2. Enjoy working with your hands
3. Happy, Positive, Awesome, with a can-do attitude
4. Can balance chatting and having fun while also being consistently productive
5. Ability to focus in a production environment that makes large quantities of the same components
6. Great sense of humor
7. You think about how your actions at work indirectly or directly affect the customer
8. The ability to manage your productivity to hit daily group goals
9. Pride and attention to detail in the quality of what you make
10. Laid back with no ego and open to doing anything that's needed, including switching tasks throughout the day
11. Values receiving constructive feedback in order to learn and grow
12. Must love dogs, music and listening to podcasts or audiobooks!
