What does a JES2 operator do?

JES2 (Job Entry Subsystem 2) operators are IT professionals responsible for managing and controlling the JES2 component on IBM mainframe systems. JES2 is a subsystem that handles job management, including the reception, scheduling, and output of batch jobs on z/OS mainframes. Operators monitor job queues, resolve job failures, and ensure efficient processing of workloads. They may also perform tasks like starting and stopping JES2, managing print output, and troubleshooting issues related to job execution.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a JES2 systems programmer?

To thrive as a JES2 Systems Programmer, you need deep expertise in mainframe environments, particularly IBM z/OS, as well as a strong understanding of JES2 operations, systems programming, and problem-solving skills.
