Job description

OVERVIEW:

The Metrology Technology Specialist Intern has the desire to become a proficient product specialist. This person will be trained on each of the different Jenoptik products and exposed to metrology products made by others. The Metrology Technology Specialist will assist with concept proposals at the time of sales, start-up of the equipment at Jenoptik, travel to support start-up at the customer site, and mentor others on metrology solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Include but not limited to):

  • Become Proficient with several multiple Jenoptik products and the ability to recommend customized solutions with the products.
  • Work with sales and operations teams to develop metrology solutions.
  • Ability to present/discuss technical information regarding the product.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Jenoptik product development team globally for continual learning and product support.
  • Start-up and troubleshoot metrology equipment both on the Jenoptik build floor and at the customer site.
  • Work with Controls Design on interface between metrology equipment and PLC (where required).
  • Support trials and runoff to the customer for application approval and customer buyoff.
  • Support Service Team with questions, training, and startup support.
  • Mentor peer team members throughout multiple departments for knowledge and serviceability within the company
  • Write and provide feedback for the use of manuals, training, or other technical documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KEY DELIVERABLES:

  • Successful running systems as sold to the customer and to customer specifications.
  • Internal training and mentoring on Jenoptik metrology products.

PROFILE:

  • Should possess strong basic math skills including algebra and trigonometry
  • Basic GD&T (Geometric tolerance) understanding
  • Basic use of shop tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Height gages, Dial indicators)
  • Basic knowledge of transducers, transducer to PC interface methods, columns, and computers
  • Must be able to read Mechanical, Pneumatic & Electrical blueprints
  • Expert-level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Active listener who is assertive, authentic, and communicates with open-mindedness, empathy, and clarity
  • Ability to evaluate and estimate build hours and create build plans.
  • Cross-functional understanding of all aspects of the build process for automotive tooling.

 

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of Metrology tooling experience.
  • Experience setting up and commissioning Jenoptik metrology equipment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for business
