Job description

Mount St. Joseph University's School of Arts & Sciences is seeking adjunct professors to teach Computer Science courses, including but not limited to:
  • Web Development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Programming Fundamentals (Python, SQL)
  • Database Management
  • Application Development
  • Introduction to Computers & Digital Literacy
  • Additional Computer Science and Software Development Topics

Course offerings may vary by semester.
Responsibilities
Adjunct faculty members will be expected to:
  • Deliver engaging and effective course instruction in assigned subjects
  • Assess and grade student assignments and projects
  • Monitor student participation and provide timely feedback
  • Hold office hours to support student learning
  • Attend meetings with the department chair and/or faculty as needed
  • Adhere to department and university policies and procedures
  • Utilize technology effectively in course delivery, including learning management systems and online resources
  • Maintain open communication with students, staff, and faculty
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA regulations regarding student confidentiality

Education:
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree with at least two years of relevant professional experience in software development, web development, programming, or IT
  • Preferred: IT Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; PhD

Experience:
  • Evidence of past teaching excellence and/or industry experience in relevant fields
  • Strong familiarity with instructional technology and online teaching platforms is a plus
