Job Description

Senior Capital Markets Systems Engineer is a senior front office leader accountable for building and operating critical quantitative trading and risk systems within Fixed Income. This role owns one or more production platforms, strategies, or product verticals, and the engineering delivery of quantitative pricing, risk, and execution capabilities that support trading performance, real-time risk management, and electronic market competitiveness in live markets.

Scope & Accountability

Owns the architecture, development, and ongoing enhancement of one or more front office quantitative trading, pricing, or risk platforms (or a defined product vertical)
Accountable for production performance in live trading environments, including resilience, scalability, and operational readiness
Delivers desk-facing analytics and tooling aligned to Trading priorities, with a clear focus on measurable pricing, execution, and risk outcomes

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement quantitative trading components including pricing engines, risk calculators/models, and execution logic
Ensure systems are production-grade, robust, performant, scalable, and fit for purpose in live markets
Partner daily with Traders and Risk to refine models, analytics, and workflows based on market behavior and desk needs
Lead technical delivery within scope, including design reviews, code reviews, release readiness, and incident response for production systems
Support governance requirements including documentation, model validation engagement, audit readiness, and regulatory inquiries as applicable
Maintain high standards for engineering rigor, controls, and operational discipline

Decision Rights

Final authority on design choices, implementation approaches, and technical standards within the owned platform or product scope
Business recommendation authority on production releases and model enhancements within scope, subject to Technology change management, architecture, and control processes
Escalation point within scope for production performance issues, outages, and material model-risk concerns; drives cross-functional resolution with Technology and Risk partners

Basic Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
10+ years of progressive experience in front office quant, trading engineering, or electronic trading roles supporting Fixed Income
Demonstrated ownership of production pricing, trading, execution, or risk systems with real-time desk demands
Deep working knowledge of at least one major Fixed Income asset class (Rates or Credit preferred)
Advanced programming skills in Python, Java, C++, or equivalent; demonstrated ability to deliver production-grade systems in regulated environments

Preferred Skills & Experience

End-to-end ownership of a major platform, strategy, or product vertical within a front office setting
Strong design and code review discipline in production-grade trading systems used to stream live markets, price risk, and support execution across Fixed Income, with engineering standards built around continuous availability, full failover, rapid recovery, and operational resilience under market conditions
Familiarity with low-latency architectures and real-time data processing
Strong understanding of model lifecycle management, production controls, and governance expectations (validation, audit, regulatory)
Demonstrated ability to balance speed, resilience, and control while delivering front office outcomes

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $152,370.00 - 186,230.00
