Job description

**This position is fully on-site in Colorado Springs at Peterson SFB - ACTIVE Secret Clearance minimum REQUIRED 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Software Engineer III will design, develop and maintain mission-critical software in support of missile warning systems. Develops and maintains complex engineering computer programs, and performs coding, testing, installing, and maintaining of engineering computer programs having features including multiplicity of function, critical constraints, and elaborate input/output. This position is 100% on-site and requires hands-on collaboration with cross-functional teams in a secure environment. 

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, create, modify, operate, integrate, test and maintain software systems or platforms
  • Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and reliability
  • Containerize existing codebases using Docker and other container technologies
  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions
  • Ensure security of software and systems
  • Work with Agile teams in high-level design, development, implementation, integration and verification of software components
  • Attend and Participate in Periodic Large Scale Agile Planning events, as well as standard Agile meetings (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives)
  • Develop computer program documentation and operational procedures
  • Provide diagnostic support to correct processing anomalies in complex computer programs
  • Assist in the preparation of specifications and other activities that require knowledge of programming principles and techniques
  • Interpret requirements and performs analysis to ensure that objectives are met

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in software engineering
  • Strong experience & Java skills REQUIRED
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, Google Test, or similar
  • Experience containerizing applications using Docker required (Kubernetes experience a plus)
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Atlassian Bamboo, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
  • Wide breadth of expertise in development languages, tools and environments in the design and development of software-centric solutions
  • Producing design documentation and as-built documentation with little or no assistance 

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Minimum Active Secret Security Clearance required - Top Secret is preferred

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree Preferred
