Who You Are:
Seeking a Lead / Senior Java Developer with 8+ years of experience who can provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, and hands-on Java development support for applications and projects within the Cable and Telecom industry. This professional will lead design discussions, mentor development teams, coordinate with offshore resources, and drive scalable enterprise application development initiatives.
At the Lead/Senior level, you will be expected to lead technical workstreams, contribute to architecture decisions, provide meaningful input into client deliverables and proposals, and take ownership of complex technical initiatives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, drive best practices, and support enterprise modernization efforts while embracing Excelacom's brand and core values.
As a Consultant, you'll contribute to client engagements by delivering insights, building deliverables, and leading workstreams. You'll be expected to bring strong analytical thinking, and a proactive mindset to solve client problems and drive transformation.
Role and Responsibilities:
You may work on various projects throughout your career with Excelacom. The roles and responsibilities noted below pertain to the specific role listed above.
  • Lead project requirements, architecture design, and enterprise application development initiatives
  • Design and develop scalable enterprise applications utilizing Java 8+, J2EE, Spring, JDBC, and Java Beans
  • Lead Microservices architecture and development utilizing Spring Boot and RESTful APIs
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on architecture frameworks, design patterns, coding standards, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated and sustainable application and data integration solutions
  • Lead design discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization efforts
  • Support cloud-native application development and deployments within AWS and/or PCF environments
  • Develop and support REST and SOAP web services integrations
  • Coordinate and collaborate effectively with offshore development teams
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and support iterative software delivery methodologies
  • Occasionally contribute toward productizing Excelacom's work, supporting the Center of Excellence, and assisting with client proposals and technical solutioning efforts
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical oversight across project teams
  • Work closely with clients to identify process improvements
  • Analyze business challenges and recommend technology-driven solutions
  • Support system development, integration, and testing activities
  • Develop presentations, deliverables, and implementation plans
  • Assist with proposals and business development efforts

Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of professional development experience utilizing Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Integration, REST Web Services, SOAP Web Services, Microservices, Cloud Technologies (AWS, PCF), SQL, and Kibana
  • Prior consulting experience - in an agile environment - with a leading strategy firm, consulting practice, or consulting technology firm
  • Strong experience designing and developing Microservices-based enterprise solutions
  • Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies, enterprise architecture frameworks, design patterns, and software engineering best practices
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring development teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Ability to interact cross-functionally with various levels of management, clients, and technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within team-based environments
  • Strong experience with AWS cloud technologies and cloud-native application development
  • Strong knowledge and application of Java/J2EE design patterns within enterprise environments
  • Good understanding of telecom products and systems supporting business customers
  • Excellent communication and client interfacing skills with prior experience working alongside offshore development teams
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in Telecommunications, Media, or Cable is highly preferred
  • Past success in generating new business with existing clients
  • Good time management and collaboration skills
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives
  • Experience leading distributed or offshore development teams
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies, and containerization technologies preferred
  • Strong SQL and database optimization experience

Compensation and Benefits:
