Job Description:
As part of the SWDC program, the WSS team offers opportunities to support the U.S. Missile Defense System through the development of Modeling and Simulation applications used in warfighter training and exercises, concept evaluation, developmental engineering, testing and verification, and assessment. The selected Software Engineer III will support the Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) project as part of the WSS team. Candidate will design, develop, test, document, and integrate features using C++ and/or Java programming language hosted on a Linux operating system. Primary responsibilities include designing and developing software to model various Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) element capabilities. Additional responsibilities could include interfacing with MDST customers and presenting technical briefings to MDST stakeholders. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Basic Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience.
โ€ข Proficiency developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or Java.
โ€ข Demonstrated understanding of software development life cycle.
โ€ข Experience in agile software development methodologies like Scrum or Kanban. Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
โ€ข Strong, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
โ€ข Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
โ€ข A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance. Preferred Qualifications:
