Java Streaming & Event-Driven Specialist (Kafka)
Location: Alpharetta, GA (willing to travel to client locations)
Employment Type: Full-Time (W2)
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Java Streaming & Event-Driven Specialist to design and implement real-time data processing solutions using Kafka and Java. This role focuses on building high-performance streaming applications with technologies like Spark, Flink, or Storm to support event-driven architectures.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Java-based streaming applications to process real-time data using Kafka as the core event-driven platform.
  • Implement and optimize data pipelines with Apache Spark, Flink, or Storm for low-latency, high-throughput processing.
  • Design and manage Kafka topics, partitions, and consumer groups to ensure efficient event streaming.
  • Build resilient, scalable systems to handle large-scale, real-time data flows in production environments.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to integrate streaming solutions with broader data ecosystems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot streaming applications to ensure reliability and performance under load.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 years of experience in Java development with a focus on streaming and event-driven architectures.
  • Proficiency in using Kafka for event streaming and real-time data processing in production.
  • Experience with streaming frameworks like Apache Spark, Flink, or Storm for building data pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of real-time data processing principles and distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with cloud-based streaming services like AWS Kinesis, Azure Event Hubs, or GCP Pub/Sub.
  • Exposure to advanced Kafka configurations for scalability, fault tolerance, and security.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus or ELK Stack for streaming application observability.
