To thrive as a Java Full Stack Developer Intern, you need a solid understanding of Java, front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and basic software development principles, ideally supported by coursework or relevant projects. Familiarity with development tools such as Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA, version control systems like Git, and frameworks like Spring Boot and React is typically expected. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help interns collaborate and learn quickly in a team environment. These skills and tools are essential for building robust applications and contributing meaningfully to development projects.

The main difference is that a Java Full Stack Developer Intern works on both front-end and back-end components, while a Java Backend Developer Intern focuses solely on server-side development. Both roles require Java skills, but the full stack role demands knowledge of front-end technologies and UI design, making it broader in scope.

What are some common challenges faced by Java Full Stack Developer Interns, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Java Full Stack Developer Interns often encounter challenges such as balancing work between front-end and back-end development, managing time across multiple tasks, and adapting to fast-paced agile environments. It's important to communicate regularly with mentors and team members for guidance, seek feedback on code reviews, and utilize online resources to strengthen both Java and front-end framework skills. Embracing a proactive learning approach and collaborating closely with other developers can help interns overcome initial hurdles and build confidence in contributing to real projects.

What does a Java Full Stack Developer Intern do?

A Java Full Stack Developer Intern assists in the development of both the front-end and back-end components of web applications using Java and related technologies. They typically work under the guidance of senior developers to write code, troubleshoot issues, and learn the software development lifecycle. Job description

Enzo Health is a healthcare technology company transforming home health operations through purpose-built artificial intelligence. We deliver a secure, HIPAA-compliant AI platform that unifies intake, clinical documentation, coding, and quality assurance-enabling agencies to reclaim time and revenue while elevating patient care.
Enzo addresses the critical challenges facing home health agencies today: rising operational costs, clinician burnout, shrinking reimbursement margins, and increasing compliance demands. Our integrated AI solution automates documentation workflows from referral to final QA, allowing clinical staff to focus on delivering exceptional patient care.
Our Solutions
  • Enzo Intake: Delivers intake decisions in seconds, automatically extracting key data from referrals to increase admissions and reduce processing delays.
  • Enzo Scribe: Auto-generates OASIS documentation, clinical narratives, and care plans, reducing documentation time by up to 75%.
  • Enzo QA: Ensures documentation meets the highest clinical standards with approximately 95% coding accuracy, reducing compliance risk while increasing reimbursement by an average of $185 per episode.

Our Impact
Trusted by top-performing home health agencies nationwide, Enzo delivers measurable results: documentation time under 25 minutes per visit, referral intake under 5 minutes, and 30-50% savings per episode of care. These efficiencies effectively double staff capacity while maintaining exceptional quality and compliance.
As reimbursement pressures intensify, Enzo Health empowers agencies to navigate cost-cutting measures without compromising care quality, positioning AI as the essential strategy for sustainable growth in home health.
About the role
We're looking for a high-impact Senior Full Stack Engineer to help build and scale the core infrastructure powering Enzo Health. You'll work across the stack to develop fast, reliable, and intuitive products that automate critical workflows in home health. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to directly shape both product and technical direction.
What you'll do
  • Design, build, and ship end-to-end features across frontend and backend systems
  • Own major parts of the codebase and help define technical architecture
  • Work closely with product and design to translate user needs into scalable solutions
  • Build systems that leverage AI/ML to automate healthcare workflows (OASIS, intake, scribe, etc.)
  • Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of our platform
  • Write clean, maintainable code and establish best practices across the engineering team
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers as the team grows
  • Move quickly-balancing speed with long-term technical quality

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a full stack engineer, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment
  • Strong proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React) and backend development (e.g., Node.js, Python, etc.)
  • Experience designing and building scalable systems and APIs
  • Comfort working across the entire stack, from UI/UX to infrastructure
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML systems or integrating APIs (e.g., LLMs) is a plus
  • Bias toward action and a strong sense of ownership

Why This Role Matters
Enzo Health is automating some of the most manual and error-prone workflows in post-acute healthcare. The quality and speed of our engineering directly determine how quickly we can deliver value to customers and scale our impact. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you'll play a critical role in building the foundation of our platform and shaping the technical decisions that power our growth.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity
  • High ownership and the ability to shape core systems from an early stage
  • A fast-paced, product-driven engineering culture
  • Direct collaboration with founders and leadership
  • Remote-friendly work environment
  • The opportunity to build technology that meaningfully improves healthcare operations
