Senior Java Developer - Description

CSC is currently seeking a Senior Java Developer at our brand new, state-of-the-art Innovation Technology Center in Bossier City, LA. The Senior Java Developer will support development teams and will be responsible for streamlining best practices and coding conventions, including code, functional, presentation, and data reviews. Furthermore, the Senior Java Developer will support development using the Scrum methodology, while working with team members to ensure work is completed on time.


Senior Java Developer - Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop highly complex code and integrate artwork, text, video, and sound into client websites; create highly complex, customized applications to enhance website capability based on business needs 
  • Build table frames and forms and write highly complex script within the browser to enhance site functionality 
  • Ensure that web pages are functional across different browser types and conduct tests to verify user functionality 
  • Resolve complex production support problems by identifying issues, recommending, and overseeing approved implementation of solutions
  • Investigate and resolve matters of significance for end-user problems and escalate, if necessary; identify issues, gather information, determine and recommend courses of action 
  • Provide training and support for business system analysis and process definition to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures; provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel 
  • Work with end users to address requirements, usability, accessibility, security, and change requests to ensure website functionality; identify issues and recommend solutions
  • Create test plans and report test results; work with outside vendors in developing tests to ensure future site functionality 
  • Research, track, and understand new web technologies to provide technical leadership in developing service applications and analyzing business requirements; make and implement recommendations for new policies and procedures
  • Oversee with cost management for site project; perform necessary quality assurance activities to ensure optimum site functionality



Qualifications

Senior Java Developer - Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred 
  • Eight or more years of web, internet, or programmer/analyst experience 
  • Experience working with local area and wide area networks 
  • Experience working with web authoring languages such as C , Java, XML, HTML, CGI, ASP 
  • Experience working with multimedia applications, database interactions and data modeling tools 

Senior Java Developer - Other Qualifications 

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation, and testing of internet/intranet web sites 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members 
  • Strong communication skills to interact with team members and support personnel 
  • Cost management skills 
  • Ability to work in a team environment
