Job description

Job Title: Quality Control Inspector, Night Shift Location: Chattanooga, TN Type: Direct Hire Contractor Work Model: Onsite – onsite 3rd Shift Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections throughout the production cycle to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring equipment and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) such as Zeiss CMM (Calypso software), Keyence Optical CMM, and Faro arm to verify conformance on nuclear, DoE, DoD, and AS9100/ISO9001 projects.
  • Perform precise dimensional inspections at every stage of production, including first article, in-process, and final inspections, using calibrated precision tools.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T requirements during inspections, documenting results accurately and maintaining traceability.
  • Verify incoming materials and in-process work at defined control points to meet quality requirements before proceeding.
  • Perform receipt inspection of materials, parts, and consumables, ensuring proper identification, storage, and accompanying material certifications and test reports.
  • Execute assigned QC witness and hold points, verifying activities according to customer and contract requirements, potentially traveling for off-site inspections.
  • Support quality program compliance, adhere to procedures and work instructions, and ensure documentation control.
  • Interface professionally with customers and production teams regarding inspection results and technical quality requirements.
  • Own inspection results, report discrepancies immediately, focus on process improvement, and accept feedback to enhance skills.
  • Support additional duties and flexibility to meet business needs.
Requirements
  • Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control inspection activities utilizing Faro Arm CMM and/or Keyence Optical CMM.
  • Knowledge and experience with NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, ANSI N45.2, and ASME BPVC Section III and VIII quality standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate technical and quality requirements.
  • Flexible hours to meet emergent customer needs.
  • Zero minimum experience requirement.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, along with walking, standing, reaching, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
  • Additional preferred qualifications include completed Zeiss Metrology, Keyence Optical CMM, or Faro Arm training classes, experience with nuclear QA codes, machinist or fabricator background, nuclear commercial grade dedication, and aerospace (AS9100) QMS experience.
