As an Engineer in Training (EIT) within our Land Development and Municipal Engineering team, you'll contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects that support growing communities. Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle while building the technical and professional skills needed to grow your career.

Your Impact
  • Support the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects, including sanitary sewers, stormwater systems, water distribution networks, district energy piping, grading, and roadworks.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, consultants, approval agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to technical reports, engineering drawings, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates.
  • Participate in projects from concept development through detailed design, tendering, construction, and client handover.
  • Assist with contract administration activities and field reviews during construction.
  • Help deliver projects that meet municipal, provincial, federal, and private-sector client requirements.
  • Work closely with technical specialists and project managers across WSP offices while building your engineering expertise.
  • Continuously develop your design, project coordination, and problem-solving skills through hands-on project experience and mentorship.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Eligibility for Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Up to 2 years of experience in municipal infrastructure design through academic, co-op, internship, or professional experience.
  • Familiarity with stormwater management, sanitary sewer systems, water distribution systems, and site development projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in team environments.
  • Familiarity with City of Ottawa Sewer and Water Design Guidelines and the site plan approval process is considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario driver's licence is considered an asset and may be required for occasional site visits.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $66,700 - $88,400
MB & ON: $60,900 - $83,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $60,300 - $80,000
