Job description

 A career as a Senior Analyst on the Subsidiary Accounting team means acting as a resource person in the analysis, accounting and documentation of complex transactions involving National Bank subsidiaries. You will also be responsible for establishing key processes for the new subsidiaries in Japan and Dubai in order to support their implementation and ongoing operations. Through your accounting expertise, rigour and ability to explain technical issues clearly, you will contribute directly to the quality of financial information, the compliance of accounting treatments and the success of strategic projects such as business acquisitions, restructurings, liquidations, transfers of assets or shares, and other non-recurring transactions.


Your Job

  • Analyze and account for complex transactions, including business acquisitions, liquidations, mergers, transfers of assets or shares, corporate restructurings and other specific transactions.
  •  Document accounting analyses, key judgments, financial impacts and required accounting entries, in collaboration with the accounting policies, tax, legal, treasury, consolidation and business unit teams.
  • Prepare, review or support the preparation of the financial statements and documents intended for internal and external auditors.
  • Ensure that accounting treatments comply with applicable standards, internal policies and governance requirements related to subsidiaries.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, tools and controls related to subsidiary accounting.
  •  Act as a trusted partner to stakeholders by explaining accounting impacts clearly and facilitating decision-making.
  • Participate in strategic projects involving subsidiaries, including the integration of new entities, the implementation of accounting processes and coordination with the relevant teams.
  • Perform and/or supervise month-end accounting activities.
  •  Analyze and interpret financial data, explain variances and ensure that corrective actions are implemented.

Your team

Within the Finance sector, you are part of a team of seven colleagues and report to the Director, Subsidiary Accounting.

This position will allow you to be part of a collaborative team specialized in subsidiary accounting. You will work in an environment where rigour, teamwork and the ability to navigate complex files are essential. This role will allow you to develop distinctive expertise in corporate transactions, subsidiary accounting and financial reporting, while collaborating with colleagues who bring a variety of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in accounting and 7 to 10 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with a specialization in accounting and 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • CPA designation
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of SAP, an asset
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines; rigour and accountability
  • Strong ability to adapt to change
