Description
    Upgrading Wide Area Network (WAN) equipment and fiber infrastructure at remote locations CONUS an OCONUS
  • Designing and implementing cable infrastructure for data centers and outside plant fiber
  • Working with network engineers to establish layer 1-3 connectivity
  • Performing installation of routers, switches, encryptors and patch panels in racks
  • Performing inside plant fiber installation: data center fiber installation, telecom room to telecom room fiber installation
  • Performing outside plant fiber installation: building to building fiber installation through manholes and handholes
  • Working with node site coordinator to extend WAN circuits to routers
  • Coordinating with remote site POC's to plan, design, and schedule equipment and infrastructure installation
  • Coordinating with remote COMSEC custodians to ensure the correct Keymat is ordered ahead of installation, working with local COMSEC custodians to send out appropriate COMSEC device to site
  • Creating cable diagrams before and update after installation is complete

Requirements
  • CCNA or CompTIA Network+
  • Information Technology background
  • Knowledgeable in network WAN/LAN with experience in troubleshooting layer 1 connectivity issues
  • Six plus years of experience in the following areas:
    • Working with copper cable infrastructure (CAT5E, CAT6, CAT6A)
    • Working with Single Mode and Multimode fiber (OS2, OM1, OM3, OM4)
    • Troubleshooting Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity issues
    • Installing fiber optic transceivers (SFP, QSFP, media converters)
  • Knowledge of outside plant (OSP) fiber installation and safety, including OSHA safety standards and confined space training
  • Understanding of Data Center Infrastructure, including hot aisle/cold aisle environments, cable ladders, rack installation, and cable management
    Knowledge of fiber and copper test equipment, such as Visual Fault Locator (VFL), Fiber Optic Power Meters, CAT5E/CAT6 testers, OTDR, and T-BERD
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visual Basic)
  • Must be able to lift, move, carry 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to relocate to Charleston, South Carolina
Desired Skills
  • Six plus years of experience in the following areas:
    • Installing routers, cryptographic devices, circuit activations, and fiber infrastructure
    • Performing fusion splicing, including spliceon connectors, loose tube, ribbon fiber, and splice tray organization
    • Working with DISA Telecommunications Service Orders (TSO)
  • Prior military service or experience contracting with a government agency
  • Troubleshooting network issues in a WAN environment working with Network Engineers to determine if it's physical (layer 1) or logical issue (layer 2-3)
  • Troubleshooting cryptographic devices, i.e. correct keymat, IP address, SA tunnels and route information
Clearance Information

SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT. THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TOP SECRET / SCI LEVEL.

Travel Requirements
  • 75% Travel, able to travel for up to a month at a time, usually, one to two weeks
  • Able to obtain US Passport (company pays)
  • Driver's license required
  • Willing to drive overseas to include (Left side of the road I.E. England, Japan etc.)
  • No Company travel credit card, company Reimbursement travel
