Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an ICU position requiring VA or compact RN license and strong neuro critical care experience.

Details
  • , within a hospital ICU setting
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required within the contract
  • Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
  • 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours
  • EMR: Epic proficiency required
Requirements
  • Active VA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
  • BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Minimum three years of critical care experience preferred, though strong candidates with less experience may be considered
  • Trauma Level I and/or Level II experience preferred
  • Strong neuro critical care experience required
  • Proficiency in Epic charting system required
  • Skills required include ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
  • Additional required skills include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, emergency medications, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG required
  • No history of license or background hits permitted
  • No history of fit test issues permitted; facility cannot accommodate PAPR
  • EKG proficiency test required with a minimum 80% passing score, one attempt only with no remediation
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing services to ICU patients including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and emergency response
  • Work in a unit supporting neuro critical care cases including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgery care
  • Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Care for patients requiring CVVHD/CRRT and renal failure management
  • Longer assignment through January 9, 2027 available but not required, with a requirement to work two of the three winter holidays if extended
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Three hours of pre-start modules required (billable)
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Current NURSYS report required for consideration
