Job Summary:
The Child Care Aide assists the child care teachers and director for the early childhood child care program, St. James Community Child Care, and the school age child care program, Saved By The Bell. This position assists with supervising children, provides support for classroom activities, and builds positive learning environments for children.
Essential duties outlined below are intended as "representative" examples of the level, nature, and decision-making expected of positions assigned to this classification. The duties below are not intended to be a comprehensive listing of all duties and tasks performed by employees assigned to this classification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with lesson preparation and execution
  • Assist with implementing classroom routines and expectations
  • Help children meet their social, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs
  • Ensure children's safety through active supervision
  • Maintain classroom supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Create an inviting, inclusive environment
  • Adhere and follow licensing requirements as stated by the Department of Children, Youth, & Families

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 16 years of age or older. Experience working with children, preferred.
Work Environment:
Work responsibilities are performed in a typical child care setting and classrooms, located in Armstrong School.
Physical Job Requirements:
Employees are continuously required to talk, hear, and use hands to handle or feel objects and materials; frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, or sit for extended periods of time. The position may require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
