Job description

Your Impact

Perform code research and load analysis, including lateral analysis for wind and seismic loads in accordance with applicable building codes. Prepare technical memorandums, calculation reports, and specifications with a high level of attention to detail and quality control. Perform structural calculations for foundation and superstructure elements such as beams, girders, columns, walls, braces, footings, and piers. Perform calculation checking of other engineers’ work and participate in peer reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance. Lead small to medium‑size tasks such as platforms and small buildings, taking ownership of scope, schedule, and quality requirements. Define structural load paths and design common structural elements along those paths. Attend project coordination meetings and establish internal task lists and schedules; proactively identify scope changes and raise them as needed. Create plan markups, sections, and details for BIM designers to incorporate into production models and drawings. Participate in quality control reviews and adjudicate quality control reviewer comments. Take initiative on tasks with ill‑defined conditions of satisfaction, determining what is needed to meet project and client requirements. Forecast level of effort for assigned scope and manage workload to meet commitments in a timely, accurate, and cost‑effective manner. Support development of judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Provide guidance to junior engineers or designers when appropriate and collaborate effectively with peers and senior engineers. Occasionally perform field walks to verify existing conditions or support construction activities. Utilize structural analysis and design software (RAM, SAP2000, ETABS) and coordinate with BIM tools such as Revit. Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and best practices within the team.

Hybrid schedule is allowed.

Requirements and Qualifications

This position requires a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (or foreign equivalent) and two years of work experience in the relevant Structural Engineering occupation.

As an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (or foreign equivalent) and five years of work experience in the relevant Structural Engineering occupation is acceptable.

Must successfully pass the FE Civil Exam.

Specific Skills
  • Design concrete and steel buildings and other structures
  • Proficient use of design software such as RAM, SAP2000, and ETABS
  • Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles and capacity to build analytical models, input loads, and perform design based on reference codes
  • Experience with non‑linear time‑history analysis and performing non‑linear analysis using computer software
  • Familiarity with ASCE 7, IBC, ACI 318, AISC 360, and other relevant codes and standards, including local codes
  • Bluebeam® Revu skills for coordination, markups, and comments
  • AutoCAD for developing sketches
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Excel, including VBA macros, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)

The base salary range for this position is $121,950.00 to $130,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
