Job description

Responsibilities
The Pre-op/PACU RN is responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative care of the surgical patient for the department. Multidimensional responsibilities include patient/family teaching and patient care throughout the pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia recovery phases of care. The registered nurse in Pre-op/PACU is involved in the assessment, nursing diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of perceived, potential or actual problems associated with anesthesia agents and surgical procedures..
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year acute care experience as an RN preferred. Recent working experience in pre-op/PACU preferred. Critical care background preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of employment. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism during stressful times. Strong critical thinking skills. Strong IV therapy skills are preferred.
