What is an IV Therapy RN?

IV Therapy RNs are registered nurses who specialize in administering intravenous (IV) medications, fluids, and nutrition to patients. They are skilled in inserting and managing IV lines, monitoring for complications, and providing patient education on IV therapy. These nurses play a vital role in hospitals, clinics, and outpatient settings, ensuring safe and effective treatment through IV access. IV Therapy RNs must be knowledgeable about infection control, medication compatibility, and proper documentation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an IV Therapy RN?

To thrive as an IV Therapy RN, you need expertise in intravenous therapy techniques, patient assessment, and a valid RN license, often complemented by IV certification. Familiarity with infusion pumps, venipuncture equipment, and electronic health records is critical for safe and efficient practice. Exceptional attention to detail, patient communication, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are standout soft skills in this role. These skills ensure accurate IV administration, patient safety, and effective collaboration in healthcare environments.

What are some common challenges IV Therapy RNs face when coordinating care with other departments?

IV Therapy RNs often work closely with various departments, such as pharmacy, oncology, and surgery, to ensure timely and effective administration of intravenous treatments. A common challenge involves managing scheduling conflicts and communication gaps, especially when urgent IV access or medication adjustments are needed. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to advocate for patients' needs while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Proactively building relationships with colleagues in other departments can help streamline workflows and improve patient outcomes.

Job description

Role: IV Tech

Location: Addison, Texas
Company: IV Nutrition
About IV Nutrition

IV Nutrition's mission is to empower people to take control of their health through personalized, medical-grade wellness care. Our clinics deliver vitamin, mineral, and nutrient IV drips and injections that help clients improve hydration, energy, immunity, and recovery — making advanced wellness clear, accessible, and results-driven.
About the Role
We're looking for an IV Infusion Technician to join our Addison clinic — someone who is confident with a needle, genuinely warm with clients, and takes real pride in delivering a safe, high-quality experience every time.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role at the heart of what we do. You'll be starting IVs, administering injections, supporting daily clinic operations, and making sure every client feels cared for from the moment they walk in.
It's also a role with a clear path forward. High performers will have the opportunity to grow into an Assistant Clinic Director position.
What You'll Do
Deliver Safe, High-Quality Clinical Care
  • Start IVs and administer IM injections safely and efficiently, monitoring clients throughout treatment for comfort and safety
  • Document treatments, client responses, and clinical notes accurately
  • Maintain strict adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards
Create an Exceptional Client Experience
  • Create a welcoming, professional environment and build genuine rapport with every client
  • Educate clients on therapies, supplements, and wellness benefits with clarity and enthusiasm
  • Handle client questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy
Keep the Clinic Running Smoothly
  • Prepare IV drips and manage treatment flow throughout the day
  • Track, restock, and organize inventory; maintain cleanliness and order in all clinical areas
  • Support scheduling and overall clinic efficiency
Show Up as a Team Player
  • Work closely with the Clinic Director and Assistant Director to support daily priorities and team goals
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment and assist with training and onboarding as needed
  • Take initiative, bring accountability, and look for ways to go beyond the basics of the role
What You'll Bring
Licensure & Certifications
  • Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license — required
  • IV Therapy Certification — required
  • CPR/BLS certification — required
Experience
  • 1+ year of clinical, emergency, or infusion experience preferred
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong IV and injection skills with a calm, confident bedside manner
  • A warm communicator who builds trust quickly and handles pressure with professionalism
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Genuine interest in wellness, preventative care, and functional medicine
Good to Know
  • Part-time position with clinic-based schedule
  • 8–10 hour shifts, including some Saturdays as needed
  • Performance-based pay increase after 90 days
  • Clear path to Assistant Clinic Director based on performance
Is This Role for You?
You'll be starting IVs and caring for clients all day in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where consistency, skill, and genuine warmth matter. Clients will vary. Some will be nervous first-timers. Some will be regulars who know exactly what they want. Your job is to make every single one of them feel like they're in good hands.
In return, you'll be part of a clinic that's building something real for the Marin community, with competitive pay, a great team, and a clear path to grow if that's what you're looking for.
