Overview

Schedule:ย PRN

Location:ย Winn Army Community Hospital

Pay rate: $50/hr & $4.57*/hr for health & wellness pay (in lieu of benefits)

Responsibilities
  • Perform physical exam and health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
  • Shall perform speculum exams to assess for ruptured membranes.
  • Perform vaginal exams to determine cervical dilation.
  • Correctly utilize electronic fetal monitoring.
  • Apply and trouble shoot external monitors.
  • Assist with the application of interval monitors and trouble shoot.
  • Interpret fetal monitor tracings and implement appropriate nursing care.
  • Assist with special OB procedures, i.e., amniocentesis, external versions, antepartum testing.
  • Administer IV push medications.
  • Assess patient's stage of labor and implement appropriate nursing care.
  • Perform circulating duties in the delivery room.
  • Provide initial and/or resuscitative care to the newborn.
  • Recognize signs of labor complications, to include abruption, previa, uterine rupture, hemorrhage, eclampsia, and implement appropriate care.
  • Implement and monitor pitocin augmentation or induction of labor.
  • Administer magnesium sulfate, terbutalane and ritodrine correctly and monitor effect.
  • Assess vital signs and provide care accordingly.
  • Performs Venipuncture and maintains IV therapy to include administration of IV medications.
  • Utilizes sterile technique when necessary.
  • Monitor patients for complication of recovery stage of labor.
  • Prepares patients for C-Section or surgery as needed. Functions as circulating nurse during C-Sections.
  • Instruct and/or reinforces the use of relaxation and breathing techniques during labor.
  • Monitor diabetic patient in labor.
  • Identify pre-term labor and provide appropriate care.
  • Assess the sensory and motor level of Epidural block and document appropriately. Identify when a block is too high and what corrective measures to take.
  • Assess epidural insertion site.
Qualifications
  • Degree/Education (5.2.4): Registered Nurse shall have an Associate's degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, or graduate level degree from a program that provides a diploma or degree in nursing from a National League of Nursing (NLN) /American Education Service (AES) accredited school.
  • Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or as otherwise identified in the TO.
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): All contract service providers must possess and maintain current course completion documentation for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) through an American Red Cross approved training program. All Certificates must be renewed prior to expiration. Online certification is not acceptable. They are also required to have Advance Life Support Obstetrics (ALSO), Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work and Emotional Support Program (S.T.A.B.L.E.) and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (I FMH).
  • Experience: L&D RN: Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience with in the last three (3) years working in an obstetric setting and shall have possess and maintain a current BLS and NRP certification. Must have knowledge in basic Fetal Monitoring, Obstetrical Emergencies and Couplet Care.
  • Licensure/Registration: All licensed personnel: The contractor shall, without expense to the Government, be responsible for obtaining any necessary licenses and permits and for complying with all Federal, State, Municipal laws, codes and regulations in connection with the performance of services required by this contract. All personal services contract health care providers must maintain a current, active, valid and unrestricted license or authorizing document from any U.S. state, District of Columbia; or U.S. territory or jurisdiction to provide health care within the scope of practice for a specific health care discipline.
