Position Overview
The Student Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the campus experience at SFBU. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Auxiliaries, this position ensures the Student Lounge and surrounding facilities are welcoming, safe, and operational. Beyond floor supervision, this role provides critical administrative and project support to the Associate Director, involving data entry, research, and the creation of digital content. This is a part-time, non-exempt position requiring 2-4 days of coverage per week, with shifts ranging from 2-4 hours. Candidates must have the flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor the Student Lounge area to maintain a professional, inclusive, and safe atmosphere for all students.
  • Oversee the use of lounge equipment and facilities, ensuring all items are well-maintained and reporting maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Assist the Associate Director with project-based tasks, including data entry and the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Conduct online research using internet tools and social media platforms to gather relevant data for auxiliary services.
  • Use Canva and Google Suite to design flyers, digital assets, or instructional materials for the lounge.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the day-to-day operations of Auxiliary Services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a professional appearance and a helpful attitude.
  • Skilled in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Mail, Calendar) and Canva.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students and preparing administrative documents.
  • Ability to use digital platforms and social media effectively for data gathering.
  • Disciplined approach to managing facilities and supporting executive-level staff.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Duties are typically performed in an office and student lounge setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs; occasional bending, sitting, or standing for extended periods.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a currently enrolled, full-time student at SFBU.
  • Must have completed at least one full semester at SFBU.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Anticipated Start Date: First week of June 2026.
