Job Duties

Position is responsible for assessing, developing, delivering, evaluating training, recording, and tracking all mandated, elective, and specialty training of all staff for the facility. Responsible for the supervision of assigned training staff. Contributes to administration of performance management system for staff. Conducts ongoing inspections to maintain security, sanitation and good order of the institution. Interacts with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Drivers' License. DCJS Certification. Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement. Experience supervising corrections staff.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret policies/procedures and effectively prepare lesson plans and instruct accordingly. Knowledge of institutional security operations, equipment, and training techniques.

Additional Considerations

Current DCJS General Instructor Certification in at least one of the following areas: Firearms, First Aid/CPR, and Defensive Tactics Certification. Knowledge of adult training methods. Demonstrated ability to produce written reports using a computer. Experience delivering training in criminal justice, corrections, or law enforcement environment., or university or equivalent training or experience.
