PRODUCT INFORMATION & ITEM SPECIALIST
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Product Information & Item Specialist is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and ongoing maintenance of the company's item master database. This position manages the creation of new items, product information, pricing updates, item data standards, and overall item database integrity.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Product Information & Item Specialist ensures that accurate and consistent product data supports efficient operations, inventory management, merchandising, purchasing, and seamless customer experience across all sales channels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Product Information & Item Specialist serves as the steward of the company's product master data and supports product data standards that ensure accurate, consistent, and complete item information throughout the product lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
• Create and maintain item master records in accordance with company standards.
• Administer SKU creation and ensure proper item setup.
• Maintain product categorization, hierarchy, taxonomy, attributes, and specifications.
• Create and maintain UPC and barcode information.
• Maintain accurate vendor information.
• Execute MSRP, retail, and cost updates.
• Administer scheduled, promotional, and other pricing changes.
• Manage product images and other digital product assets.
• Perform routine data quality audits and identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain ERP item data integrity.
• Monitor data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with established standards.
• Document and maintain item master procedures and processes.
• Collaborate with merchandising, purchasing, inventory, operations, e-commerce, and other departments to ensure product information meets business needs.
• Support special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additional duties, assignments, and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Merchandising, or a related field preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in retail merchandising, purchasing, product information management, item master administration, inventory management, or a related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
• Experience maintaining large product databases and working with ERP systems preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables, filtering, and importing/exporting data.
• Familiarity with musical instruments and music retail products preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite and Shopify POS is a plus.
