How does an Italian Language Assistant typically collaborate with classroom teachers to enhance students' language learning?

Italian Language Assistants work closely with classroom teachers by supporting lesson delivery, facilitating small group conversations, and providing cultural context to language lessons. They often lead speaking and listening activities, help with pronunciation, and develop engaging materials that complement the curriculum. Regular collaboration with teachers ensures that the assistant's activities align with learning objectives and address students' individual needs, creating a more immersive and effective language learning environment.

What are Italian Language Assistants?

Italian Language Assistants are professionals who support the teaching and learning of the Italian language, often in schools, universities, or language centers. They help students practice speaking, listening, and understanding Italian, and may assist teachers in preparing lessons and cultural activities. Their role is to enhance language immersion, correct pronunciation, and provide insights into Italian culture and customs. Italian Language Assistants are typically native speakers or highly proficient in Italian, and they play a key part in helping learners build confidence and fluency.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Italian Language Assistant, and why are they important?

Job description

A warm and caring family is seeking an exceptional career nanny to join their long-term childcare team. This is a live-out position caring for four young children, including newborn identical twin girls, a toddler daughter, and a preschool-aged son. The family is hands-on with a fully staffed household. Mom is home and actively involved in the children’s daily lives, and the family values a collaborative team approach to childcare. Their goal is to provide a calm, loving, and predictable environment where their children can thrive through play, exploration, language, and meaningful relationships.

Spanish is spoken daily in the home and fluency is required, as maintaining the children’s Spanish language development is a priority for the family. The family does not have a set schedule in mind and is open to working out the details with the right candidate. Flexibility is key, as the role may require a combination of weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and approximately 2 to 3 date nights per week. International travel will be required from time to time. Schedule to be determined based on mutual fit and availability.

    •    Provide exceptional care for newborns, toddlers, and preschool-aged children
    •    Support feeding, sleep routines, potty training, and developmental milestones
    •    Plan engaging, screen-free, age-appropriate activities and outings
    •    Foster Spanish language development through everyday conversation
    •    Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children
    •    Maintain children’s bedrooms, play areas, clothing, toys, and supplies
    •    Assist with children’s laundry and other child-related tasks
    •    Communicate proactively with parents and work collaboratively alongside another professional nanny

    •    Warm, calm, nurturing, emotionally mature, and unflappable under pressure
    •    Naturally discreet and professional, with a quiet, grounded presence that contributes to a peaceful home
    •    Proactive, organized, dependable, and able to anticipate the family’s needs
    •    Comfortable working alongside involved parents and as part of a collaborative childcare team in a fully staffed household
    •    Passionate about early childhood development and fostering independence through play
    •    Comfortable caring for newborns, toddlers, and preschoolers simultaneously
    •    Comfortable around large, friendly dogs
    •    Interested in becoming a long-term member of the family’s life

Required:
    •    Native or fluent Spanish
    •    Extensive professional newborn care experience
    •    At least five years of professional nanny experience
    •    Infant CPR and First Aid certification
    •    Excellent professional references
    •    Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable personal transportation (a family vehicle is available while transporting the children)
    •    Valid passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Strongly Preferred:
    •    Experience with twins and caring for multiple young children simultaneously
    •    Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, or early childhood education background
    •    Former teacher
    •    Experience in fully staffed private homes
    •    Ability to prepare healthy meals
    •    French or Italian language skills

  • Competitive compensation package based on experience, qualifications, flexibility, and overall fit.
  • Benefits available for the right long-term candidate.
