Job Description
Eataly's bustling marketplaces feature a comprehensive retail offering including: imported and local grocery products; bread, pasta and mozzarella produced daily on premises; an extensive selection of fresh meat, fish and cheese; wine; and housewares.
The General Manager (GM) of Retail oversees the complex retail operations of an Eataly store. The GM of Retail is an operational leader who not only sets strategy and analyzes financials but also leads through example and stays close to the products and team through consistent presence on the floor.
Reports to the Director of Store Operations. Manages the Fresh Market Manager and Dry
Market Manager.
  • Directs and organizes the store's retail operations to maximize profitability
  • Develops departmental goals and leads a team of managers
  • Works closely with each manager to understand operational needs and boost interdepartmental collaboration
  • Analyzes financial data and develops strategies around pricing, merchandising and promotions
  • Manages merchandise and creates product lists, identifying roll-outs and phase-outs of products
  • Prepares weekly updates on the retail department for senior leadership
  • Assists with employee hiring, assignment, training, payroll, scheduling, evaluations and terminations
  • Documents, investigates and resolves employee and guest incidents
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years of retail or grocery management experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Exceptional leadership, motivational and team-building skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, analytical and business management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Italian products and wine

Job Requirements
  • Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule sometimes including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
  • Ability to operate equipment such as a slicer, pasta machine or cash register as needed
  • Availability to travel up to 10% of the time
