Job description

South Ogden City is looking for a part-time IT Support Specialist to help keep City technology running smoothly.

This is a part-time position with flexible hours and would be a great opportunity for a college student pursuing a degree in IT, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field who wants to gain hands-on experience while attending school.

Municipal IT provides exposure to a wide variety of technology and operations. One day you may be troubleshooting an employee's workstation, and the next you may be assisting with public-safety technology, network connectivity, or a Citywide IT project.

With part-time, flexible hours, this position is especially well suited for a college student looking to build practical IT experience while continuing their education.

What you'll do

  • Provide first-line technical support to City employees
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Install and maintain computers, workstations, and peripheral equipment
  • Support City applications, email systems, MDTs, and public-safety technology
  • Assist with network connectivity and City IT projects
  • Work with City staff and third-party IT professionals to resolve technical issues

Applicants should have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and be pursuing education in a related field
  • Approximately one year of related IT experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic knowledge of computers, hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • A valid Utah driver's license
  • Ability to pass a BCI background check
