Job Summary:
Vest Financial is a rapidly growing investment management firm specializing in Target Outcome Strategies. The IT Technical Lead is a senior, hands-on role responsible for executing technical initiatives and solving complex problems within the IT environment, ensuring systems are secure and reliable while supporting the company's technology needs.
Responsibilities:
• Get deep into email infrastructure: SMTP, DNS, SPF, DMARC, Google logs, and Outlook troubleshooting
• Think strategically about email delivery architecture and group management beyond Google Groups' limitations
• Support email security tooling (Proofpoint or equivalent) and delivery monitoring for business-critical communications
• Troubleshoot complex Windows environment issues for users doing sophisticated work (Excel code, development stacks, quantitative analysis)
• Dive deep on hard problems: networking issues, software installation conflicts, configuration challenges
• Partner with leadership on technical problems that require expert-level diagnosis
• Execute on Google Workspace administration and optimization (our primary platform)
• Implement and manage identity and access management, including SSO solutions
• Execute projects with our IT vendor to maintain and improve our IT environment
• Act as primary escalation point for internal IT issues requiring deep technical expertise
• Execute on cybersecurity controls appropriate for an SEC-regulated financial services environment
• Gather and organize technical data to support penetration testing and security assessments
• Execute on compliance documentation and evidence requirements
• Support audit processes by maintaining accurate IT documentation and control materials
• Work across the organization to understand and support diverse technology requirements
• Balance startup agility with financial services rigor in all implementations
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications:
Required:
• 8+ years in IT systems administration, infrastructure, and hands-on technical roles
• Strong experience troubleshooting and supporting Windows environments for power users
• Prior experience in fintech or financial services (understanding the regulatory context)
• Deep hands-on experience with: Email infrastructure fundamentals (SMTP, DNS, SPF, DMARC)
• Google Workspace administration
• Identity management and SSO solutions
• Email security platforms (e.g., Proofpoint)
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals in regulated environments
• Experience preparing technical materials for security reviews and penetration testing
• Comfort working independently and executing projects with external vendors
Preferred:
• Exposure to SOC 2, ISO27001 or similar security and compliance frameworks
• Familiarity with SEC and similar security and compliance rules
• KVM or other virtualization technologies
• Endpoint security tools and management
• Experience in high-growth financial services startups
• Server-side email infrastructure beyond cloud providers
• Ability to work mostly in our McLean, VA office
