(ASI) is seeking a motivated IT Systems Engineer I/II to support mission-critical information technology systems within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This position is designed for an IT professional who has established foundational systems administration and engineering skills and is ready to expand technical capabilities while supporting complex systems in a secure operational environment. The IT Systems Engineer will work as part of an integrated technical team responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, configuring, testing, and improving enterprise IT systems and associated infrastructure. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical curiosity, sound troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary engineering team. Primary Responsibilities • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and/or Linux-based servers, workstations, applications, and supporting infrastructure.
• Support day-to-day system administration and engineering activities across physical and virtual computing environments.
• Monitor system health, availability, capacity, and performance and assist in identifying potential issues before they affect mission operations.
• Diagnose hardware, software, operating system, application, network connectivity, and system integration issues.
• Assist with system upgrades, patches, configuration changes, testing, deployment, and technical refresh activities.
• Support vulnerability remediation, system hardening, patch management, and other cybersecurity compliance activities as assigned.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, configuration records, troubleshooting procedures, technical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Participate in system testing and document test procedures, results, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Work collaboratively with systems engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, software developers, program leadership, customers, and other technical professionals.
• Participate in technical reviews, engineering discussions, and continuous process improvement activities.
• Perform other systems engineering and IT support responsibilities consistent with program and customer requirements. Required Qualifications • Active TS/SCI security clearance with an adjudicated polygraph.
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification or an approved equivalent that satisfies applicable customer cybersecurity workforce requirements.
• Foundational professional experience supporting information technology systems, system administration, systems engineering, networked computing environments, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, network connectivity, and common troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals, access control, system security, patching, and secure configuration practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically and document findings and corrective actions. Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
• Relevant technical training, military experience, certifications, and directly applicable professional experience may be considered in combination with or in lieu of a degree, subject to contract requirements.
• Approximately 1-4 years of relevant professional experience in systems engineering, systems administration, IT operations, infrastructure support, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Candidates with strong technical foundations and demonstrated potential for continued development are encouraged to apply. Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications • Experience with VMware virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, or comparable virtualization platforms.
• Experience creating, configuring, deploying, maintaining, or troubleshooting virtual machines.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and related enterprise services.
• Exposure to cloud computing environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with configuration management, version control, or automation tools.
• Experience using ticketing, incident management, or IT service management platforms.
• Experience working in classified DoD, Intelligence Community, or other secure government environments
• Experience working with Ubuntu/RHEL. Compensation The anticipated salary range for this position is $105,000 - $130,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's relevant systems engineering and IT experience, education, technical expertise, certifications, security clearance, specialized skills, contract requirements, and other business considerations. Candidates with additional experience in VMware virtualization, systems administration, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, scripting or software development, automation, and secure Government or Intelligence Community environments may warrant consideration toward the higher end of the range. This salary range represents base compensation and does not include the value of benefits or other compensation that may be available through Arion Systems, Inc. Work Environment The position supports systems operating within secure government environments in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The employee should be comfortable working in controlled-access facilities and complying with applicable customer security, information assurance, and operational requirements. The nature of the work requires regular collaboration with technical teams and customers. On-site work will be required based on program and classified-environment requirements.
