Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Support Specialist to join our team and serve as a key point of contact for end-user technical support, network administration, and IT operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, wants exposure to broader IT projects, and is comfortable working across both Mac and Windows environments. You'll work closely with the Director of IT on implementations, process improvements, and day-to-day operations that keep the organization running smoothly.

General Tasks / Duties

Below is a general list of the tasks and duties:

  • Provide first- and second-tier helpdesk support for hardware, software, and general technical issues across macOS and Windows platforms
  • Diagnose and resolve desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral issues in a timely manner
  • Support general network management and troubleshooting, including switches, access points, and firewalls (Ubiquiti/UniFi experience preferred)
  • Administer and support Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), and SharePoint
  • Perform routine administrative tasks via command line, PowerShell, and macOS Terminal (or equivalent scripting/automation tools)
  • Assist with procurement of IT hardware and software, including vendor research, quote requests, and order tracking
  • Maintain accurate IT asset management records (inventory, assignments, warranties, lifecycle tracking)
  • Write and maintain clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal documentation
  • Partner with the Director of Information and Integrations on system implementations, upgrades, and special projects
  • Set up new hire equipment and manage offboarding/equipment recovery processes
  • Maintain user accounts, permissions, and security best practices across cloud and on-prem systems
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately and follow up to ensure resolution
  • Travel to satellite offices or off-site locations as needed (up to approximately 10%)

Qualification / Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or a related technical role
  • Solid working knowledge of both macOS and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with general network administration and troubleshooting; familiarity with UniFi/Ubiquiti equipment strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Office 365 and Google Workspace administration
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and SharePoint
  • Comfort working in command-line environments (PowerShell and macOS Terminal or equivalent)
  • Experience with basic IT procurement processes and IT asset management/inventory tracking
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience creating SOPs and technical documentation
  • Excellent multitasking skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability and availability to travel approximately 10% of the time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (networking and IT equipment)
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, or crouch for extended periods (e.g., under desks, in server closets)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
  • Experience supporting a hybrid or multi-office environment
  • Familiarity with MDM/endpoint management tools (e.g., Jamf, Intune, NinjaOne)
  • Basic understanding of IT security best practices
