Job description

Company Description

The Indiana University Foundation (IUF) is committed to advancing Indiana University by inspiring generosity, strengthening relationships, and supporting opportunities that create lasting impact for students, faculty, alumni, donors, and communities. As part of the IU advancement community, IUF helps connect people to the programs, initiatives, and ideas that move Indiana University forward.

Job Description

The Indiana University Foundation is seeking an IT Engineer to build and maintain the technical infrastructure that powers its philanthropic mission.

The IT Engineer at the Indiana University Foundation keeps the systems that support the work of philanthropy running, connected, and evolving. Advancement operations depend on software that moves data reliably, integrates platforms seamlessly, and surfaces the right information when it's needed, and your work is what makes that possible.

Day to day, you will build and maintain the integrations and data pipelines that tie IUF's systems together. You design and maintain APIs, create and support ETL processes, and work across a suite of internal applications spanning CRM, commerce, and unified data platforms. Depending on the platform, you move across technology stacks including C#, Python, and JavaScript as the work demands. You build and maintain automation workflows that streamline data processing and operational tasks, follow secure coding practices, and implement logging and error handling to keep integrations reliable, and document your work in ways that keep solutions reproducible and your team informed.

You will partner with business stakeholders to scope, build, and test solutions, participate in code reviews, contribute to a culture of quality, and bring your technical perspective into conversations with colleagues across functions and backgrounds. If you're energized by complex systems, genuinely curious about how things connect, and ready to grow your technical range in a mission-driven environment, apply today.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, data engineering, software engineering, or a related field strongly preferred
  • 2-3+ years of experience in integration engineering, data pipeline development, software development, or a related technical discipline required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in at least one integration development language (e.g., Python, C#, JavaScript, or equivalent)
  • Experience building API integrations using REST or event-driven patterns
  • Working knowledge of data pipeline development including ETL/ELT processes and SQL
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, or equivalent)
  • Experience with automation platforms (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate, or equivalent workflow tooling)
  • Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery practices
  • Understanding of data quality, governance, and security principles as applied to pipeline and integration development
  • Ability to configure, customize, and extend vended software systems including CRM platforms
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues independently
  • Ability to participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience in Advancement, higher education, or nonprofit technology environments preferred
