SUMMARY 

The Director of IT is responsible for the strategic development and maintenance of the agency's core information systems, cybersecurity posture, and emerging technology initiatives. This role spearheads innovation projects involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business Intelligence (BI) to optimize both human services and donated goods retail operations. Additionally, the Director provides specialized technical support to the Director of Retail Technologies on a per-project basis to ensure enterprise-wide system cohesion.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Innovation & Emerging Tech: Lead the evaluation and implementation of AI and automation tools to enhance service delivery in human services and retail efficiency.
  • Data Intelligence & Analytics: Develop and maintain business intelligence applications and databases to provide actionable insights into agency-wide performance.
  • IT Security & Risk Management: Establish, monitor, and update security protocols and disaster recovery plans to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborative Retail Support: Provide technical expertise and surge capacity for retail technology projects on a per-project basis (e.g., system integrations or hardware rollouts).
  • Infrastructure Management: Manage the planning, purchasing, and implementation of hardware and software across all agency locations.
  • Perform other related essential duties as required or directed.

OTHER DUTIES

Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information related to security systems and other loss prevention strategies as related to interviews and investigations conducted throughout the organization. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Employee will directly supervise the agency's IT department.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in computer related field from four-year College or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, interpret and develop web based applications and databases using industry standard technologies and languages like PHP, Python, Java, SQL, MySQL with well documented, performance optimized and secure code and create end user documentation and training modules for the application.

Proficiency in creating end-user documentation, training modules, and data visualization tools for business intelligence.


LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation, and governmental and other regulations. Ability to write reports, general business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, outside vendors and consultants. 


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CT driver's license in good standing. Use of personal vehicle required.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS
