Job description

We are looking for a hands-on IT Manager who knows how to lead people, get things done, and ask the right questions. This role is responsible for the full scope of IT at Ranger Design โ€” from the network and helpdesk to ERP operations and Salesforce CRM โ€” and will work closely with our Corporate IT team to align on standards, projects, and priorities.

The right person for this role does not need to be a deep technical expert in every domain, but they must understand enough about each area to manage their team effectively, roll up their sleeves when needed, troubleshoot intelligently, and know when to escalate. Above all, this is a leadership role that requires someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and brings out the best in the people around them.

This position is well suited for a seasoned IT professional who has managed or led cross-functional IT teams and has broad experience across infrastructure, end-user support, and enterprise business applications.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the COO and Corporate ITโ€™s supervision, you will be responsible for the following:

Lead and develop a small, cross-functional IT team:

  • Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support the professional growth of each team member
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Balance workloads, manage priorities, and ensure the team is focused on the right things
  • Be present and engaged โ€” willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside your team when the situation calls for it

Partner with Corporate IT on strategy, standards, and projects:

  • Serve as the primary IT point of contact for Ranger Design within the broader Corporate IT organization
  • Align local IT operations and projects with corporate standards, security policies, and roadmap priorities
  • Communicate clearly upward and across the organization โ€” on progress, risks, and resource needs

Own the reliability and performance of IT operations across all domains:

  • Ensure network infrastructure, servers, and cloud services are stable, secure, and well-maintained
  • Oversee helpdesk operations and hold the team to high standards of responsiveness and service quality
  • Ensure the ERP system (EPICOR or equivalent) supports the business effectively, with clean data, reliable integrations, and well-trained users
  • Ensure Salesforce CRM is properly administered and delivering value to the Sales team

Drive IT projects from idea to completion:

  • Manage scope, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations across IT initiatives
  • Coordinate internal team members and external vendors to deliver on commitments
  • Identify and manage risks proactively; communicate issues early and clearly

Manage vendors, contracts, and the IT budget:

  • Oversee relationships with technology vendors, MSPs, and software providers
  • Negotiate contracts and identify opportunities to improve value and reduce cost
  • Manage the IT budget responsibly and make sound investment recommendations

Maintain IT security, governance, and compliance:

  • Ensure security policies, access controls, and endpoint protection are in place and enforced
  • Support audit readiness and ensure IT practices meet regulatory and corporate compliance requirements
  • Stay current on cybersecurity threats and act proactively to protect the organization

Ensure documentation, processes, and systems are well-maintained:

  • Keep IT documentation, policies, and procedures current and accessible
  • Ensure end-user training materials exist and that users are set up for success with the tools they rely on

ยท Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

What We Are Looking For:

ยท 7+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3 years managing or leading a cross-functional IT team

ยท Broad, working knowledge across the full IT stack โ€” networking, infrastructure, end-user support, ERP, CRM and development โ€” sufficient to manage specialists and ask the right questions in each area

ยท Hands-on experience with an enterprise ERP system in a manufacturing or distribution environment; EPICOR experience is a plus, but strong experience with a comparable platform (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle NetSuite, SAP, SYSPRO, or Infor) is equally valued

ยท Demonstrated ability to manage IT projects end-to-end, balancing timelines, budgets, and competing priorities

ยท A collaborative working style and the ability to partner effectively with Corporate IT, business leaders, and external vendors

ยท Strong communication skills โ€” able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and present clearly to leadership

ยท Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written) is strongly preferred given the Montreal work environment

ยท A natural problem-solver who is comfortable jumping in to troubleshoot, investigate, or help when the team needs it

ยท Bachelorโ€™s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience considered

Preferred Qualifications:

ยท Experience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial company

ยท Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure or cloud-hosted infrastructure, and modern workplace tools

ยท Experience managing or overseeing Salesforce CRM administration

ยท Background in IT security governance, including MFA rollout, endpoint protection, and user access management

ยท Relevant certifications (ITIL, PMP, Microsoft, Cisco, Salesforce, or equivalent) are an asset

ยท Experience working within a multi-site or subsidiary IT environment, including collaboration with a parent or corporate IT organization

What You Can Expect:

ยท A visible, impactful leadership role within a growing North American manufacturing company

ยท A collaborative team environment and a close working relationship with Corporate IT

ยท The opportunity to shape how IT is delivered and experienced across Ranger Design

ยท Competitive compensation and benefits package

ยท This is an on-site role

Quebec candidates: While French is required for Quebec-based roles, use of the English language is also required due to the nature of the business and the need to interact with US sites, clients and customers.

If you have the above-mentioned qualifications and are interested in this position, please send your resume (mentioning the job title) to Jennifer.schonholzer@rangerdesign.com.

Candidates for this position must be legally entitled to work in Canada, hold a valid passport for entry into United States, and will be required to show proof as such. Ranger Design does not sponsor work permit applications.

All requests will be treated confidentially.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
