Job description

Onsite IT/EMR TechnicianThe Onsite IT/EMR Technician provides hands-on technical support across clinic and business locations, combining field support with entry-level Electronic Medical Record (EMR) assistance. This role troubleshoots hardware, peripherals, and basic EMR workflows, coordinates with centralized IT teams, and ensures staff have the reliable tools needed to support uninterrupted patient care. This position will work primarily out of our Taylorsville, UT location with travel to clinics as needed.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Strong hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting abilities.Foundational knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, network connectivity, and clinical peripherals.Basic understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and EMR navigation.Excellent communication, customer service, and documentation discipline.Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly, prioritizing patient-impacting issues.Essential Functions and Duties:Onsite Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve physical hardware, software, connectivity, and peripheral issues for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, phones, and signature pads, responding to tickets that require physical presence, supporting all staff and coordinating with Help Desk staff when on-site troubleshooting is required.EMR Specialist I Support: Assist users with routine EMR issues (login access, scheduling, scanning, tasking, documentation, prescriptions, and referrals) and problem solve core issues. Document EMR issues clearly with technical steps for reproduction as well as urgency/escalation notes. Escalate complex EMR build, configuration, interface, reporting, billing, provider, or vendor-related issues to EMR Specialist II or EMR Administrator. Device Deployment & Lifecycle: Install, configure, relocate, and retire endpoint hardware. Prepare workstations according to IT standards and verify network/EMR readiness before deployment. Perform proper inventory standards and remove outdated, damaged, or retired equipment for disposal, reuse, or tracking. Peripheral & Network Troubleshooting: Support local/network printers, label printers, and clinical scanners. Perform basic physical network troubleshooting (cabling, port checks, Wi-Fi connectivity) and coordinate complex infrastructure fixes with the network team.Clinic Moves & Changes: Support office relocations and department reconfigurations, collaborating with facilities, vendors, and leadership to minimize downtime. Document completed moves, equipment changes, access needs, and follow-up work required.Ticket Management & Communication: Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the ticketing system. Prioritize issues based on patient care impact and translate technical concepts into plain language for clinical users. Maintain professionalism during urgent, high-pressure or patient-care impacting situations.Compliance & Security: Strictly adhere to HIPAA, privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection policies when handling equipment, credentials, and patient-related workflows.
