Job description

Summary:
This is a full-time, salaried position for an experienced industry professional to join our IT Team. The IT Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains hardware and software components; installs and configures equipment; and provides technical support across the organization. This role works closely with departments and staff at every level-listening to their technical needs and implementing effective IT solutions to resolve issues quickly and reliably.
Dixie Tech is a public technical college housed on a new, state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College offers 30 Council on Occupational Education accredited programs that provide certifications in high-demand, high-paying professions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform computer imaging, staging, and installation
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
  • Repair or replace damaged hardware
  • Reconfigure computers to support compatible software
  • Manage IT assets, including inventory control requirements
  • Assist with onboarding student and staff email and computer accounts
  • Assist with help desk calls, room scheduling, and IT support tickets
  • Purchase IT supplies and equipment for the College in accordance with the Purchasing Card and Procurement Policies
  • Ensure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race,
    color, religion, sex, age (40 years or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender
    identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition. Report all violations
    immediately to HR or Student Services
  • Comply with all Dixie Tech policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Reports to the Campus IT Manager

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or industry-recognized certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3 years of IT experience preferred
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (G Suite)
  • Strong working knowledge of macOS and Windows operating systems
  • Experience using large language models (LLMs) and other AI tools to increase productivity and efficiency preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to communicate with students, staff, and colleagues; read academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.; operate a personal computer and audio-visual equipment; stand or sit for one to three hours at a time; drive to off-site meetings, conferences, or to observe student interns; and move around campus for classes and meetings.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
