Your role

We're looking for an IT Helpdesk Technician to join our IT Team in Ottawa. This will be a 12 month contract role. 

The successful candidate will join our corporate infrastructure technology team in enabling the growth and successful operation of the company. The core responsibility of the role will include remote and in-person, first line IT technical support and PC administration in support of Colliers Project Leader employees, with escalation of more complex issues to System, Network and Application Administrators. In addition to providing troubleshooting and issue resolution, this individual will also join IT Department project teams to deploy new technology, systems and processes to support employees and the organization as a whole. 


  • Work as a member of a HelpDesk team to provide first line PC and user technical support for users across Canada
  • Create, monitor, and update tickets in the SysAid HelpDesk ticketing system
  • Complete laptop setup and maintenance including hardware and software installations
  • Maintain a hardware inventory and identify items due for replacement or upgrade
  • Create and manage Active Directory user accounts and assign access control based on company policies
  • Process change requests, change orders and other contract or IT related administrative documents
  • Work with System, Network and Application administrators to deploy and support new technology to company workers

  • A degree, diploma or post-graduate certificate in the information technology or computer sciences field
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in providing technical support in a corporate business environment
  • Self-motivation and accountability for delivering on a range of responsibilities and commitments
  • In depth experience in the building, imaging, configuration and support of PC’s and laptops
  • Experience providing remote user support, using remote access software and other technologies
  • Experience working with Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook and SharePoint
  • Experience supporting PC’s in TCP/IP networks and WiFi wireless networks
  • Experience with Microsoft network services such as Active Directory, Windows Fileshares, and Windows printer queues
  • Experience with basic MS Exchange tasks such as mailbox account and distribution group creation in Exchange 2010
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to manage and prioritize competing priorities in a busy environment
  • Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset, but not required
  • Proficiency in presenting ideas in user-friendly language to non-technical staff and end users
  • A friendly, personable and positive outlook with the ability to build harmonious working relationships with peers, end users and external vendors

Expected Compensation: $25/hour

Base pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Annual bonus opportunities are in addition to base salary.
