Job Summary

The Information Technology (IT) Manager IV (EnterpriseInfrastructure Lead), under direction, routinely manages large andcomplex IT project operations. Performs limited specialized,technical duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads, motivates, develops, and coaches multi-disciplined andmore senior technical staff. Models ethical, regulatory, andperformance standards. Models and promotes the open sharingofinformation, dedication to the team's mission, customer commitment,collaboration, and cooperation.
  • Recruits, hires, and supervises large or multiple project teamsstaffed with multi-disciplined and more senior technical staff.Enforces ethical, regulatory, and performance standards. Overseesand manages personnel issues.
  • Establishes project management protocols to lead the planning,execution, and successful completion of large IT projects. Directsthe analysis of project needs and risks and recommends solutions.Oversees project or area budgets.
  • Directs activities of large or multiple project teams. Directsthe development of project or task plans, resource estimates, andschedules. Directs activities with the management of otherorganizational units and vendors. Directs the preparation ofproject documentation and reports for clients and management.Directs the evaluation, selection, and purchase of computingresources and consulting services.
  • Oversees the designs, and controls the processes for supportingthe delivery of large scale information technology services.Monitors and analyzes operations metrics. Implements continuousimprovement methodologies to include corrective actions.
  • Oversees advanced technical duties in support of large ormultiple project teams' projects and operations.
  • Maintains, establishes, and develops new, close, andcollaborative working relationships with stakeholders, customers,and vendors.
  • Oversees and directs the development of standard operatingprocedures for large or multiple project teams. Approves andcoordinates documentation provided to customers.
  • Participates in training and professional development with aspecial emphasis on leadership development, management, industryrelated acumen, and project and operations management.

  • Lead the planning, design, implementation, modernization, andongoing optimization of enterprise infrastructure, identity, cloud,and endpoint management solutions to ensure secure, reliable,scalable, and resilient technology services.
  • Develop and manage multi-year infrastructure lifecycle andcapital replacement plans, including technology roadmaps, budgetrecommendations, technical evaluations, and implementationstrategies that align with institutional priorities and long-termtechnology objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and lead complex infrastructureinitiatives that leverage cloud services, enhance cybersecurity,improve operational efficiency, strengthen disaster recovery andbusiness continuity capabilities, and advance the University'senterprise technology environment.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical leadership to systemsadministration staff while establishing enterprise architecturestandards, operational procedures, security baselines, automationstrategies, and best practices that promote operational excellenceand continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for the University'senterprise infrastructure environment, including Windows and Linuxserver platforms, server virtualization, Microsoft ActiveDirectory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, SQL Server,enterprise storage, cloud infrastructure, and endpoint managementservices.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Management InformationSystems or related field.
  • Experience - Ten years of related experience inIT.
  • Supervisory experience - Five years of supervisoryexperience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may beconsidered.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems,Cybersecurity, or a closely related field.
  • Experience leading enterprise infrastructure teams andsupervising technical staff.
  • Experience administering and supporting enterprise server,cloud, identity, and endpoint management environments.
  • Experience planning and implementing enterprise infrastructuremodernization, cloud adoption, or technology transformationinitiatives.
  • Experience developing technology roadmaps, infrastructurelifecycle strategies, and capital budget recommendations.
  • Experience managing complex IT projects, vendor relationships,and enterprise technology implementations.
  • Experience supporting higher education or another large,complex enterprise environment is preferred.
Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of:
  • Enterprise information technology infrastructure, systemsadministration, cloud technologies, and industry bestpractices.
  • IT service management, project management, technology planning,and operational governance.
Ability to:
  • Provide technical leadership while effectively managingmultiple priorities, projects, and cross-functionalinitiatives.
  • Develop collaborative relationships, communicate effectivelywith technical and non-technical stakeholders, and supportstrategic technology planning.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities
  • Enterprise infrastructure technologies, including servervirtualization, cloud services, identity management, storage, andsystems administration principles.
  • Technology lifecycle management, IT governance, cybersecuritybest practices, and project management methodologies.
  • Lead complex technical initiatives while mentoring technicalstaff and fostering collaboration across the organization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and develop strategicrecommendations that support institutional goals and operationalexcellence.
