Job description

The IT Project Manager leads and manages strategic roadmap projects and other unplanned projects. This role ensures project accountability from inception to completion. The position involves managing complex technical projects, requiring a thorough understanding of system implementation principles and engagement with stakeholders across all levels of seniority.

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled project manager with strong, demonstrable critical thinking, a proven ability to own and deliver outcomes, and expertise across the full project lifecycle. They will bring practical experience delivering enterprise financial systems, such as planning, budgeting, forecasting, ERP, or related finance transformation platforms, ideally in complex integrated technology environments. They must be an exceptional communicator who can tell a clear, cohesive story of project progress, risks, and outcomes to diverse stakeholders. They must also be able to demonstrate how they have coached and matured project delivery teams. This role requires strong business and technical acumen, practical experience applying hybrid-Agile and waterfall methodologies, and meticulous attention to detail with consistent follow-through.

Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement. 

What you'll do

  • Oversees all phases of project management, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring alignment with company objectives. At times, may be required to support the RFx processes.
  • Applies appropriate project management methodologies based on project requirements, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to changes.
  • Establishes clear performance indicators for project success, ensuring that all team members understand their responsibilities and deliverables. Provides critical analysis of project scope, guiding stakeholders and customers to clarify objectives, reduce delivery risk, and prevent scope creep.
  • Delivery of Oracle EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) solutions, including Planning & Budgeting (EPBCS/PBCS), Workforce Planning, Financial Consolidation and Close (FCCS), forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting.
  • Implements regular check-ins and updates to assess project status, making adjustments as necessary to keep projects on track.
  • Promotes a culture of accountability within the project team, encouraging team members to take ownership of their tasks and outcomes.
  • Oversees the implementation of IT systems, including engagement with other teams for servers, networks, architecture, and cloud services. Offers guidance and support throughout all phases, from inception to rollout.
  • Works closely with operations teams to support creation of documentation for handover once projects exit hypercare phase.
  • Ensures compliance with the organization's standards and best practices in project management and delivery.
  • Collaborates with other IT streams to respond to incidents, investigate root causes, and implement corrective measures, providing technical guidance and facilitating communication with relevant stakeholders.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, IT staff, and external partners, to ensure alignment and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supports development and execution of communication plans to keep stakeholders informed about project progress, risks, and changes, facilitating transparency and trust.
  • Conducts thorough risk assessments to identify potential challenges and obstacles to project success.
  • Develops and implements proactive risk mitigation plans to address identified risks and ensure project continuity.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for resolving project-related issues, utilizing strong problem-solving skills and negotiation techniques.
  • Develops and manages project budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints.
  • Performs cost-benefit analyses to evaluate project feasibility and prioritize resource allocation effectively.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to project team members, fostering professional development and enhancing team performance.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP, CSM, PgMP) preferred.
  • 5 years+ of experience in project management, with a focus on leading complex projects.
  • Experience managing Oracle Cloud ERP and Oracle EPM integrations is considered an asset.
  • Experience leading enterprise implementations involving Finance, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial transformation initiatives.
  • Very strong understanding of hybrid-Agile approaches, Waterfall delivery, and SCRUM methodology required. 
  • Good understanding of IT infrastructure components, networking principles, and cyber security concepts are advantageous.
  • Experience with a mix of on-prem and cloud technology implementations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing medium- and large-scale projects in both stand-alone and integrated technology environments
  • Ability to construct slide decks and present project messaging effectively, with strong verbal communication and audience-appropriate delivery.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience using project management tools like Smartsheet (preferred), MS Projects

The estimated salary for this position is $135,000 - $165,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
