OVERVIEW:

Our Information Technology division plays a key role in the delivery of business services at Alberta Blue Cross. Reporting to the Manager, the successful Team Manager will be responsible for operations management of critical business application(s) and services and will provide leadership to team members in the pursuit of service delivery excellence.

The Team Manager will manage a team of System Analysts that are responsible for maintenance and continuous improvement of business systems and processes.

As the successful candidate, you will lead a team through mentorship, coaching and performance management. You will have flexibility to work from home and as well, travel into office when required. Preference will be given to those candidates that reside in Edmonton.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to foster team growth and enhance overall performance.

  • Provide leadership to a team of high performing IT professionals to deliver high-quality business solutions every day.

  • Champion change management initiatives by identifying areas for process optimization, implementing best practices, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Encourage a proactive approach to problem-solving, empowering team members to propose and implement improvements to enhance productivity, quality of deliverables, and compliance.

  • Promote, encourage, and support the wellness of team members.

  • Drive pilot initiatives and proof of concepts (POCs), scaling successful outcomes into production.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure changes are effectively communicated and integrated, fostering an environment of adaptability and collaboration.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Monitor and measure the success of improvement initiatives, providing feedback and adjustments as needed to ensure sustained progress and enhanced operations.

  • Manage performance of the team and individuals through metrics, frequent check ins and career planning tools.

  • Prepare resource plans, set priorities, and allocate team members to operational and project work in collaboration with peers and managers.

  • Recruit, coach and develop team members in ways that address both business and individual needs.

  • Participate and, if needed, lead cross-functional initiatives and committees.

  • Keep abreast of industry standards and health informatics development as they relate to Alberta Blue Cross.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • University degree/diploma or completion of a technical institute diploma program.

  • A minimum of five years of leadership in an IT related organization or team providing both technical and analytical services to clients.

  • Ability to function effectively both in day-to-day resource management functions as well as in a strategic leadership role.

  • Demonstrated strength in planning, organizing, and setting priorities.

  • A solid understanding and familiarity with all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle.

  • Working knowledge of Agile framework is a plus.

  • Experience embedding AI tools in the workflow to enhance productivity is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated commitment to customer support.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
