Job Description:

Job Description / Accountabilities:

  • This is a senior hybrid infrastructure support role responsible for supporting Cisco UCS infrastructure and VMware virtualization environments.
  • Ensure resulting solutions meet the needs of our business clients and stakeholders while adhering to the bank's technology and quality standards.
  • Maintain an understanding of business and technology directions as well as technology developments and industry trends.
  • Oversee the design, development and implementation of solutions in partnership with application leads and architects.
  • Act as a point of escalation for unresolved VMware virtualization and hardware technical issues, and work with vendors, consultants and partners in other TS areas to develop solutions.
  • Create and maintain virtual infrastructure documentation related to project assignments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication and resolution / escalation of issues.
  • Monitor service delivery against commitments, prioritizing work activities.
  • Follow documented operational procedures and processes with minimal guidance from the team.
  • Analyze operational processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain the virtual infrastructure and ensure security and patch compliance requirements are met.
  • Monitor supported environments using enterprise monitoring and management tools such as VMware Aria Operations, Dynatrace, and Intersight to ensure platform performance and stability.

Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations:

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification in vSphere 8.x or VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

  • Familiar with remediation of software and hardware break/fix on Cisco Data Center products.
  • Strong working knowledge of Cisco Data Center technologies, including Fabric Interconnects, UCS C-Series and B-Series servers, and blade chassis.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco Data Center networking and storage technologies, including Cisco NX-OS, VLANs, trunking, Fibre Channel, VSANs, and physical connectivity architectures.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco UCS hardware components, including rack servers, blade servers, Fabric Interconnects, and Fabric Extenders (FEX).
  • Expert in UCS management plane components, specifically UCS Central, UCS Manager and Cisco Intersight management platforms
  • Familiar with and working experience on the design and deployment of service profiles and templates in UCS Central and Intersight
  • 7-10+ years of experience administering enterprise VMware environments, including vCenter, ESXi hosts, VMware management appliances, and virtual machine management.
  • Working experience and knowledge of NSX software defined networking environments
  • Experience supporting private and public cloud environments.
  • Advanced experience administering VMware vSAN environments, including storage policies and storage profile management.
  • Working knowledge of VMware Update Manager and / or VMware LifeCycle Manager for patch management
  • Experience using VMware PowerCLI and PowerShell to automate infrastructure management and operational tasks.
  • Expert troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex VMware infrastructure issues and Windows/Linux virtual machine problems.
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware technologies including Distributed Virtual Switches (VDS), DRS, vMotion, vSphere HA, host clusters, datastore clusters, and enterprise networking and failover clustering concepts.
  • Advanced experience with VMware Aria Operations (VROps), Aria Operations for Logs (VRLI), and Aria Operations for Networks (VRNI) for monitoring, performance analysis, and capacity management.
  • Familiar with VMware Aria Automation services and deployments
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and security policies (GPO).
  • Familiar with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and Disaster Recovery planning / management.
  • Strong understanding of Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies, including experience supporting enterprise storage platforms such as Hitachi Vantara.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven.
  • Strong written, verbal, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Familiar with ITIL best practices (change, incident and problem management) and ServiceNow.
